THE PEACOCK AND THE SPARROW is out now in paperback. Joseph Weisberg, creator of The Americans, calls it "the most realistic espionage story I've read." Hope you will check it out. @AtriaMysteryBus @ITWDebutAuthors @AtriaBooks @simonschuster #thepeacockandthesparrow

A review of The Cauldron @ft today: “A riveting look at the cultures, ideas and maddening complexity that made the modern region, both incredibly erudite and marvellously well written; the book sings…. it is a riveting deeply absorbing work that stands out for the grand vistas that it opens up before diligent readers….”

Former NYPD homicide detective and first-rate debut author @JasonAllison76 and I will be talking books, cops, and probably making jokes about firefighters this Friday at Orinda Books in Orinda CA at 6 pm. If you're in the neighborhood, stop on by.
Happy pub day to Edgar-nominated @AdamPlantinga, a great writer and a great guy. Can’t wait to read his latest, Dark Country.

A former CIA operations officer, an Army Special Operations vet and an recovering financial analyst climb a mountain.
Rank them in likelihood that they return.
Incredible (chilly) hike through the mountains around Lake Louise in @BanffNP w/ fellow thriller writers Amran Gowani & @JackMurphyRGR. Stunning views. Intersected a porcupine. @Bouchercon @AtriaMysteryBus #bouchercon2026

Finally got to meet @OrenKessler in person, author of the terrific PALESTINE 1936, one of the best books out there for understanding the origins of today's Middle East conflict. Among other accolades, it was named a @WSJ best book of the year. Serious, impressive scholarship.
Amazing - and well-deserved! Congrats, @simonmontefiore!!
Exciting news.

Packed house at @lostcitybooks for KB Brodsky's DC launch of BEYOND HONOR. Loved interviewing the lively fascinating husband-wife team behind this book that's part spy novel, part military thriller, part NYC intrigue (think Bonfire of the Vanities dressed up in camo..) Fun night.
Such a trenchant piece from someone who knows: @simonmontefiore
I have written today about the widening Cauldron of the Middle East & the Convergence of Theatres that offer both danger of merging wars but also hopeful conjunctions in our turbulent world.
I list the 6 theatres - Russia-Ukraine, India-Pakistan, Cauc-Central Asia, Byzantine, East/Horn Africa & Sahel that are fusing with the old Middle East…
