One must wonder which ADMM statement and which clauses angered 🇨🇳 so much, that they scolded everyone following the meeting which their own Defense Minister avoided. Perhaps it was this one: UPHOLD the relevance of the ADMM and ADMM-Plus by anticipating and adapting to the evolving regional architecture, and facilitating collective and constructive efforts to address and respond to emerging and current security challenges in the region and beyond; -- The world can only guess, what caused the temper tantrum by 🇨🇳 on the 20th anniversary of ADMM.
China slams Philippines over "obstacles" to its participation in ADMM-Plus Don't worry, the 2nd ASEAN-China Maritime Exercise in 2027 will provide an another opportunity for engagement on China's terms.

Answer: 1. He thinks in "goals" and tell his subordinates to do whatever they can do reach it. Essentially he doesn't deal with means or tactics. Just "raise my ratings" and if his subordinates could not do it then they are "lacking in fighting spirit."
In @TheEconomist today, we ask how President Prabowo Subianto will respond to crashing approval ratings, which are nearing record lows.

1/ SUSPICIOUS VESSEL IN KEELUNG HARBOR, 🇹🇼#TAIWAN. SeaLight has been tracking the cargo ship NEPTUNE for months based on its weird behavior: a flag-switching cargo ship that seldom visits ports but frequently encounters other suspicious ships off the coast. It is now tied up in 🇹🇼Keelung Harbor, where its port paperwork says it just came from 🇭🇰#HongKong, even though its own Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponder's tracking signal says it was never there. Tracking from @StarboardIntel shows NEPTUNE has spent the past 14 months just loitering around Taiwan's coasts: drifting offshore for weeks at a time, occasionally encountering other vessels & not calling at a single port outside Taiwan. The closest it came to Hong Kong in that time was about 490 km. In fact, its entire AIS history shows zero visits to Hong Kong. It currently flies the flag of Comoros, a registry the European Maritime Safety Agency rates "very high risk." It has already switched flags from Tanzania, not long after Taiwan itself announced it was scrutinizing that country's registered ships. So what has this ship actually been doing? [🧵1/5] (Attached: Current location of the NEPTUNE in Keelung Harbor from @StarboardIntel, plus last known photo of the same ship from July 2022, when it was NEPTUNE1)

Singapore-based company Amigoz, according to @USTreasury, has been associated with “a range of dark fleet actors,” including some affiliated with companies controlled by Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, as well as providing bunkering services to Iran shadow fleet vessel ZIXUAN (IMO 9317298). ZIXUAN (9317298) was identified by @UANI and added to the #GhostArmada list in May 2026, prior to sanctioning by OFAC this month. -- See details in @UANI Iran Shipping Update: unitedagainstnucleariran.com… See the #GhostArmada blacklist: unitedagainstnucleariran.com… -- @JemimaShelley @mercoglianos @TankerTrackers @brentdsadler @ChongJaIan @darshanabaruah @captsingh

We may have the first indication of a ship striking a mine with the sinking of the UAE containership GFS Pride (9349045). The damage appears to be on the port quarter. This is also where we tend to see uncrewed surface vessels strike ships. We will need to wait to hear from the crew on what caused the damage.

Honored to Provide Foreword for Latest “Modern Chinese Maritime Forces”—Most Comprehensive Unclassified Order of Battle for #China’s Sea Services! wargamevault.com/en/product/… Curated content: bit.ly/MCMF26 Follow the latest developments in China’s growing nuclear-powered submarine force (pp. 20–22) and beyond with this new edition of “Modern Chinese Maritime Forces,” the most comprehensive #OpenSource PRC sea services inventory! As we gallop through the Year of the Fire Horse (火马年), China under Xi is steaming full speed ahead, particularly at sea. Navigate troubled Indo-Pacific waters by consulting the latest version of Modern Chinese Maritime Forces! China’s #Navy is simultaneously sustaining high-rate production, beginning a new generation of surface combatants, & continuing comprehensive force expansion across the waterfront. China’s Coast Guard & Maritime Militia are achieving similarly rapid advances. This most recent iteration of the 2nd Edition includes multifarious drawings throughout, with dedicated sections for PLA Army (pp. 65–77) and PLA Air Force (pp. 78–80) watercraft; the latest data updates, including regarding aircraft carriers (pp. 11–12), Shuiqiao-class LPU bridge barges (pp. 32–33), & the Liaowang-1 space support ship (p. 83). Non-Navy Prototypes, Demonstrators, & Experimental Vehicles are covered on pp. 80–81; including the Zhong Da 79 small container ship fitted as a test ship for wartime emergency arsenal ship concept to convert merchants (p. 80, attached). Issued in both PDF & print versions, this is the most extensive compendium of unclassified order of battle, data, & ship drawings available anywhere. It tracks the world’s most-numerous Navy, Coast Guard, and Maritime Militia vessels in unrivaled detail. Even just scrolling or flipping through this volume for a minute reveals the staggering scope and extent of Beijing’s sea power across the waterfront today. I simply could not be more honored to contribute a new, improved Foreword that captures China’s latest military maritime superlatives! Manfred Meyer (edited by Larry Bond & Chris Carlson), Modern Chinese Maritime Forces, Second Edition(Admiralty Trilogy Group, 1 October 2026). •“A compilation of ships & boats of the Chinese Navy, Coast Guard, Maritime Militia & other state authorities” •In terms of ship numbers, each of China’s 3 sea forces is the world’s largest by a large margin. For the scenarios that most concern the U.S. and its regional allies, these numbers matter greatly. •This suggests an important conclusion: China’s numerical sea force supremacy and the corresponding need for power projection& presence to counter it effectively demonstrates the need for a substantially-sized @USNavy. This book can help inform related deliberations and development. All the more reason to consult this handy compendium today! •The .pdf version is a living document, updated quarterly (1 January, 1 April, 1 July, 1 October) with new drawings, commissionings, decommissionings, & other ship data as it becomes available. •Single purchase includes access to future periodic updates of volume. Significant force-structure/status content: •Carrier section now explicitly lists a “Type 004 CVN” as China’s follow-on nuclear-powered carrier project, associated with a future Dalian-built hull (p. 11). •Fujian (Type 003) aircraft carrier commissioned 5 November 2025 (p. 11). •Conventionally-powered submarine coverage includes entry on Type 039C Yuan-class SSP (p. 22) & test submarines (p. 24). •Offers entries for PRC experimental submarines, including (p. 80) Type 041 Zhou-class hybrid combination SSP-Nuclear (“SSPN”), testbed for air independent power/propulsion (AIP) with a micro-nuclear reactor! •Launch platform ship for satellites via solid fuel rockets, p. 85. •Unique PAFMM ship silhouettes & related information on pp. 140–41! •Check out crane ship coverage on pp. 181–83! •Ro-Ro ferries featured on p. 185.

🚨 SEALIGHT INVESTIGATION: 🇨🇳Beijing's "Backbone Force" in 🇵🇭Manila You've probably never heard of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Associations of the Philippines, or the big Southeast Asian conference it just hosted in Manila, where a Chinese Party-state official instructed delegates to "tell China's story". In fact, even if you belong to one of the more than 200 ethnically Chinese civic groups it claims to speak for, you may not have heard of it. The federation's leaders appear to want it that way. After all, nearly everything it publishes is in Chinese ... because although it is virtually unknown to most Filipinos, FFCAP is very important to Beijing. China's embassy helped create FFCAP in 1977, and its ambassador personally swore in its current officers. Three quarters of its trustees are Chinese citizens. In 2023 the United Front Work Department hosted a large FFCAP delegation at UFWD headquarters in Beijing, where a council chaired by a CCP Politburo Standing Committee member called it the "backbone force" in the Philippines for its fight against Taiwan independence. FFCAP's official government filings say it exists to promote "camaraderie." They leave out its pledges to advance China's agenda for Taiwan "under the guidance of the Embassy," and a ₱1.5M gift worth more than twice its reported annual income. Next June FFCAP turns 50. Once again most Filipinos won't hear about the celebration -- which is sure to be big, lavish and include UFWD leaders from across the region -- because it won't be reported in a language they understand. But if you read the full SeaLight investigation (link in the comment below), you'll know where to look! 🔍 #UnitedFront #China #Philippines #Taiwan #CCP #ForeignInterference
