"The American naval blockade has prevented Iranian crude tankers from successfully escaping enforcement in the Gulf of Oman since July 12, leaving at least 53 oil-laden tankers clustered along Iran’s coastline as of Oct. 27." @UANI analysis via @BIZPACReview on the likelihood of a U.S. military campaign against the Iranian regime after Nov. 3 midterms. Iran has created a secret network of military agencies with global reach to import at least $2 billion in hardware, explosives and heavy-duty trucks since January 2025, evading both the US naval blockade and Western sanctions, a Reuters investigation has found. reuters.com/world/iran/irans…

The U.S. does not have maximalist demands. It wants Iran's regime to behave like an ordinary nation-state, not a revolutionary cause. But Tehran refuses. And diplomacy doesn't work with your regime because on the few occasions it did produce deals they were so bad that they that later fell apart because the Islamic Republic views diplomacy as an extension of its conflict with America, not a resolution of it.
Washington’s contempt for diplomacy is once again laid bare. President Trump’s admission that he never believed in the Islamabad MoU and considered it a waste of time exposes the hollowness of their diplomatic commitments. For Iran, this is nothing new. Washington has a long record of reneging on its commitments and treating international obligations as disposable whenever they become inconvenient. There is absolutely no justification for European states and other apologists for Washington to continue whitewashing U.S. misconduct and shielding it from accountability. Broken commitments cannot be excused, international law cannot be applied selectively, and no amount of political spin can absolve Washington of accountability.

28 OCT 2026 JMIC and @US5thFleet #NCAGS published updated Blockade Enforcement guidance. -- The United States is enforcing a blockade of all Iranian ports and coastlines in response to Iran’s continued aggression and illegal attempts to control the Strait of Hormuz in violation of International Law. This blockade applies to all vessels regardless of flag or ownership. Neutral vessels, carrying neutral cargo or in ballast, between neutral ports in the Gulf of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz may be subject to questioning, visit, and search to confirm their intentions regarding the blockade. Due to the current geopolitical situation, vessels which do not need to transit the area are advised to remain well clear to avoid unnecessary delays to their voyage. -- More info at @UANI Iran Shipping Update: unitedagainstnucleariran.com… -- @JemimaShelley @MarcusHand1 @mercoglianos @brentdsadler @cdrsalamander

This may apply to Erdogan’s Turkey, perhaps Pakistan too, but I struggle to see how it would apply to Saudi Arabia. This notion assumes that a weakened regime in Iran translates into a less reckless and hostile one. It doesn’t. A weakened regime may mean fewer resources for the IRGC, but it won’t fundamentally shift its calculus or neuter its asymmetric operations. For states spending billions on modernisation, living under the shadow of a hostile IRGC regime capable of launching unprovoked attacks on critical infrastructure at any time is far more costly than a pro-Israel alternative in Tehran. It is difficult to see the strategic value of “balancing” Israel if doing so risks compromising one’s own security. Riyadh will be fully aware of this, having been on the receiving end of IRGC attacks despite all the promises made by Tehran. Given the above, if a weakened regime over an alternative in Tehran is one of the aims of Ankara and Islamabad, I would argue that it exposes significant divergences in the strategic priorities underpinning the “Mecca Alliance.”
Absolutely true. I would go further. Some may prefer a weakened Iran that can help balance against Israel rather than a pro Israeli alternative coming to power in Tehran. 👇

There's definitely been an uptick in the frequency of meeting announcements for #Iran's regime's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. First it was the president, then speaker of parliament, then chief justice, now it's the SNSC secretary. iranintl.com/en/202610275710

Today’s meeting will pump more air into the IRGC’s already inflated ego. It is convinced its attacks on neighbouring states forced them to come to Tehran—and gave it leverage. This perception is dangerous. It increases the risk of recklessness and miscalculation if war resumes.
