An African migrant randomly attacked a 14-year-old German boy inside Freiburg’s central train station and tried to gouge out his eye.
The victim’s father, Roland H., also believes the attacker may have tried to carve a swastika into the boy’s cheek.
The suspect has already been released by police.
Leon had just stepped off a train from Heilbronn on Sept. 9 and was waiting on a staircase for his father, 54-year-old Roland H., when an Ethiopian man punched him in the face without warning. The blow knocked Leon's head against a stone step and left him dazed.
The attacker then bent over him, reached for his eye and shouted, "I'll kill you!"
A cafe owner, 46-year-old Pino R., said he saw the assault and intervened.
"I saw the boy sitting by the stairs. At that moment, I saw and heard the perpetrator running towards the boy shouting: 'I'll kill you,"' Pino R. told Bild newspaper.
He added, "Then, the man reached for the boy's eye and threatened to tear out his eyeball. Then, I jumped on the attacker and pulled him down."
Only then, Pino R. said, did he see that the man was holding a carpet knife. He called staff for help and alerted police.
Roland H. arrived shortly afterward and found his injured son on the stairs. Leon was taken to a hospital with injuries to his face and eye.
The father said that the injury on Leon's cheek looks remarkably like a swastika, raising questions about whether the Ethiopian migrant tried to carve the symbol in the boy's face.
"Thank God he missed the eye when he tried to grab it," Roland H. said. "I am so grateful to Pino. He saved my son's life."
Officers found pepper spray and a utility knife in the suspect's pants pocket. The suspect allegedly told police he had mistaken the boy for someone else.
Leon remains in pain and is taking painkillers. He is also receiving psychiatric treatment following the random attack.
"He is now very introverted and has said he will never take the train again," his father said. "Since the attack, he wakes up every night screaming."

Price controls destroy supply. The EU proved it again in 2022 when Brussels capped wholesale electricity and gas prices after the Nord Stream sabotage sent spot prices past 700 euros per megawatt-hour in August.
Generators across Germany, France, and Spain did exactly what any rational producer does when a price ceiling sits below their marginal cost: they cut output or pulled supply off the market entirely. French nuclear operators throttled dispatch. Spanish gas-fired plants ran below capacity. The supply Brussels wanted to guarantee, was chased away.
You paid for this twice. Your electricity bill carried emergency government subsidies funded by debt, and your employer absorbed industrial rationing that cut production schedules through winter 2022-23. BASF curtailed ammonia output at Ludwigshafen. German steel producers ran blast furnaces at reduced rates. That destroyed real economic output, not just spreadsheet entries.
The mechanism is always the same. Prices coordinate information that no committee possesses. When a price spike signals genuine scarcity, producers invest, consumers conserve, and the shortage resolves. Cap the price and you blind every actor in the market simultaneously, guaranteeing the shortage deepens exactly when it hurts most.
Brussels decided that politicians allocating energy through administrative rationing beats producers and consumers responding to real signals. Germany's industrial output contracted 0.4 percent in Q4 2022. The price cap paralyzed the market. Ironically, government intervention to "solve" the crises did more damage than the crises itself, as always.

Коли через пів року Росія передала її тіло, в ньому бракувало мозку, очних яблук і частини трахеї.
Судмедекспертиза виявила перелом шиї, переломи ребер і численні крововиливи.
Її колишній редактор сказав тоді: "Вони намагалися знищити докази. Вони намагалися стерти її".
Їм це не вдалося.
Вікторія почала займатися журналістикою у 16 років. Кримінал, суди, права людини. Після повномасштабного вторгнення вона поїхала туди, де найнебезпечніше.
Вона робила те, на що не наважувалися багато журналістів: сама проникала на окуповані території, щоб зафіксувати реальне життя під окупацією. Херсонщина. Запорізька АЕС. Незаконні "вибори".
За цю сміливість вона отримала нагороду "За мужність у журналістиці", а згодом - посмертно - звання "Герой свободи преси".
У березні 2022 року її вперше затримала ФСБ, коли вона намагалася дістатися до обложеного Маріуполя.
У Бердянську її тримали 10 днів, змусили записати відео із запереченням звинувачень - і відпустили.
Вона написала про це. І повернулася до роботи.
У серпні 2023 року вона вирушила знову - через Польщу та Росію на окупований схід.
3 серпня вона востаннє поговорила з рідними. Сказала, що пройшла кілька днів прикордонних перевірок. Де саме вона - не сказала. Відтоді вона зникла.
Росія лише через дев'ять місяців визнала, що її затримано.
У полоні Вікторія голодувала на знак протесту. Інша ув'язнена, яка їхала з нею в одному вагоні, описала її як "схожу на жертву Голодомору 1932–33 років, всю жовту". Вона казала: "Я не хочу їсти, бо тут катують наших".
Її батько отримав дзвінок від російської сторони. Йому обіцяли: умовте доньку припинити голодування - і її звільнять. Він погодився. Він умовив. Росія не виконала обіцянку.

In what should have been a safe part of the city, Philippine crossed paths with Taha Oualidat. This 22-year-old Moroccan was already convicted of rape and should have been in prison — but wasn’t.
Oualidat had also received a deportation order but this too wasn’t brought into effect because Morocco refused to accept him back. After Morocco's refusal, a French judge ordered Oualidat's release from the immigration detention centre where he was held.
Two weeks after his release, on September 20th 2024, Oualidat raped and strangled Philippine. The next day, after a big search was launched, Philippine’s family found her partially buried body in a park.
For Philippine and for thousands of other victims, we demand remigration for the hostile invaders and prison for @EmmanuelMacron and his open-border-cronies.

Arabs did not buy their African slaves from other Africans, as Europeans did. They hunted them down themselves. For every captured slave, three were killed.
