🇺🇸 The British killed Marquis de Lafayette’s father. It was during the Seven Years’ War at the Battle of Minden on August 1st, 1759. He was a colonel of the Grenadiers de France. He was struck by a cannonball. His full name was Michel Louis Christophe Roch Gilbert Paulette du Motier, Marquis de La Fayette. He was 27 years old. Young Marquis was not yet 2 years old and grew up knowing who had taken his father. It was one of the reasons for him coming to America to fight.
🇺🇸 George Washington had no son. For two years he raised Lafayette’s. As President of the United States. In April 1795, while his father was locked in an Austrian fortress at Olmütz, Georges Washington de Lafayette was sent to America. He was fifteen. James Monroe, the American minister in Paris, got him a passport. Washington wanted the boy under his own roof. He could not take him yet. France and the United States were quarreling, and a president who housed the son of a jailed French revolutionary could be accused of taking sides. So Georges waited out of sight. He landed in Boston in August 1795 under the name Motier, then moved to a house in New Jersey, then to New York, where Alexander Hamilton watched over him and told Washington not to rush. In February 1796 the House backed the President. Georges moved in. He lived with the Washingtons in Philadelphia and at Mount Vernon. Washington paid for a portrait of him. Georges also studied at Harvard. Washington kept him until his father was freed in September 1797. He sailed home the next year.

🚨REPORT: Sydney Colson, a former WNBA player and CURRENT WNBA analyst for Amazon Prime was caught on video berating and cussing out a fan. "Who you think you are? B*****, who the f**+ do you think you are?” Colson is a lesbian who averaged 2.8 ppg during her career. Neither she nor A'Ja Wilson have received any punishment from the WNBA. Players and TV analysts are now allowed to physically confront and threaten WNBA fans attending games. We've never seen anything like this.

I asked @Geraldini93 about the funniest interactions he's ever had on a football field and he talked about an epiphany he had while playing: a lot of "football anger" is simply fake anger. Once you understand that, you can solve anything related to it. Incredible breakdown:
Like myself, Bucs legend Gerald McCoy (@Geraldini93) thought the Bucs would be good this year. He goes DEEP on why they haven't been. Haven't heard a better explanation than this. "I heard some things that are being taught to these guys and I say 'that's not going to work.'"

ONE YEAR AGO, Captain Smit Machchhar was asked what's a bigger high: A smooth landing, or an on-time arrival? His answer: "None. Safe. You don't have to think about on time. They've hired other people to take care of that." "A positive landing. Safe landing where I'm supposed to land. If it turns out smooth, perfect." Today, stabbed by his co-pilot, he still got the cockpit door open so passengers could stop the hijacking. He saved the lives of all 174 passengers, and they had a safe landing. Thank you, Captain Machchhar.
