please DO NOT give these people the e-mail associated with your ao3 accounts. since this is monetized and directly referencing them, it’s more likely that ao3 and their legal team themselves can work on a takedown request, or at least provide instructions on how to do it safely. DO NOT DOXX YOURSELF TO AN AI SLOP SITE.
In light of recent ao3 related events, I have stumbled upon a website that I think authors need to be made aware of.  The website ao3 [DOT] life has been scraping and downloading fics published to ao3 for who knows how long. 🧵

“This reads like AI-” No, sir, AI was trained on how I write. I grew up in the trenches of Tumblr, AO3, Wattpad, and fanfictionnet You can’t pry my rule of three from my cold, human hands.

If I could give some unsolicited advice to ao3 fic writers it would be to: 1. Have a nice day and 2. Keep doing what you love

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

It's true that men usually prefer books by men, but that preference isn't biological, it's sociological. At the end of the day, it's believed that women write about women's feelings and men write about the human condition.

Women do not owe men “period” updates.
This is for women. It should be common sense and basic courtesy to tell a man that you are on your period when he invites you over to his place, takes you on a date or invites you somewhere intimacy might ensue, especially when he isn’t someone you’ve been with for years. Showing up at a man’s house while on your period without telling him is completely wrong. A simple “I’m sorry, I can’t come. I’m on my period” allows the man to decide whether he is still comfortable with you coming over or not. There is a certain level of disappointment when a man takes you on a trip, invites you over, or takes you on an expensive date hoping that sex will follow, only for him to realize that you knew all along that you were on your period. It honestly feels deceitful.

Great pleasure to plant Sakura Cherry trees😄 at Ysgol Rhyd Y Grug Primary School! 🌸 In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolise the beauty and fragility of life, but also renewal and hope for the future. May these trees, donated by the Sakura Cherry Tree project, stand as enduring symbols of friendship between Wales and Japan!! 🇯🇵❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I’ll come at this as a published writer. Do whatever you want. Write whatever you want. Flex your abilities is the way you feel comfortable. I’m an old writer. I started in fan fiction. It’s a way to hone your skills. It’s a test. If you want to be published, make your own world
On fanfiction. There's nothing wrong with thinking up and dreaming alternatives to famous books and stories . But that's where it should stop. As soon as you decide to write it down -- stop. Don't. Instead, turn that energy into dreaming of your own book, your own story. Want to change Harry Potter? Write a better fantasy. Capture the feeling you want, but create something else entirely. Why live in someone else's world and cage yourself to using their scraps, their plot holes? Be free, writers. Be free, readers. You can leap from world to world. Imagine new places and people. Become infatuated with your own imagination, instead of that of others. There are limitless books out there. Find them, read them, write them. Dream bigger, dream deeper. Maybe it won't be as fun at first, but eventually you'll realize that your mind has superseded the tiny worlds of the Malfoids or Star Wars what-ifs or whatever else is popular. You'll be making your own worlds. You'll be the master. Your magic system. Your characters. You'll be free to defeat the potholes, to create romances, adventures, horrors, deaths. You'll dine on steak and wonder how you ever ate happy meals. I know this because I started writing with the Eragon series in mind, but I refused to make a fanfic. Instead, I imagined my own world, carefully molding it. It was a terrible book, but it opened my eyes to new ideas, new places, new dreams. Use your fanfiction ideas as inspiration, but never as the foundation. Build your own foundation, my friends. Sprout wings and fly. The world of stories is endless. Why chain yourselves?
