When Babylon came for Judah, the Holy Spirit told us why: “Surely this came upon Judah at the command of the LORD, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, and also for the innocent blood that he had shed. For he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the LORD would not pardon” (2 Kings 24:3-4).
Manasseh had been in the grave for decades when judgment fell. Josiah had torn down the altars and renewed the covenant, too. But the blood was still on the land, because the land had never answered for it.
God warned Israel from the beginning: “You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it” (Num 35:33).
Since well before 1973 (Roe v Wade) this country has shed the blood of tens of millions of preborn children and called it healthcare. Equal protection matters because God demands it. The child in the womb is our neighbor. A people whose laws refuse to protect him is storing up wrath like Judah received.
But, like there was mercy for Manasseh, there is for us if we repent: “And when he was in distress, he entreated the favor of the LORD his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea” (2 Chr 33:12-13).
Run to Jesus, whose “sprinkled blood…speaks a better word than the blood of Abel” (Heb 12:24). Then in worshipful obedience use your strength to protect the innocent.

The Star Wars prequels are back in the public consciousness lately, so I wanted to talk about how much Palpatine’s rise to power is one of the greatest villain arcs of all time.
When it comes to the prequels, so many people naturally focus on Anakin’s journey towards the Dark Side, the flaws of the Jedi Order, or the general controversy of how different generations either love or hate the trilogy. But I really think a vastly overlooked topic is the plot surrounding the disintegration of the Galactic Republic and Palpatine’s eventual triumph at the end of Revenge of the Sith.
This is a man who manufactures crisis after crisis to first depose the previous Supreme Chancellor, wins a sympathy vote to succeed him, orchestrates a civil war where he’s secretly in control of both sides, and ultimately uses the conflict to wipe out his political rivals, overthrow the political order they had created thousands of years earlier, and convert the very Galactic Republic that the Jedi had once defended against the Sith into a Galactic Empire ruled by the Sith themselves.
It’s genius writing, overlooked by a combination of fandom controversies regarding the films themselves and the fact that Anakin, Obi Wan, and Padme usually overshadow Palpatine in the prequels.
The fact that the Jedi spent millennia fighting the Sith on the battlefield, only to allow them to secretly hijack their own Republic and then weaponize it against them when Order 66 comes down proves that the Sith are the true political realists of the galaxy, while the Jedi are the metaphysical liberals attempting to abolish politics itself.
But politics can’t ever be abolished.
The tragedy of the prequels is that the Jedi essentially promise a galaxy without conflict, and by the time conflict inevitably reappears after a postwar consensus that has lasted a thousand years, they’ve lost the ability to deal with it.

I left a church earlier this year. One of my issues was that leadership couldn't get its priorities straight.
They partnered with a ministry in Africa while in their third year of meeting in a school with no building search committee and volunteers set up and tore down weekly.
My uncle did a mission trip to Africa to teach a village how to raise pigs for food.
They flew in with a bunch of pigs, built pens for them, Food and water troughs, and taught them how to breed them so they could always have meat. Two weeks of work and teaching.
They went back a year later to check on the village. They had thrown a giant party the night after my uncle left, slaughtered and ate all the pigs, sold the feeders and fencing, and were really pissed off that the mission didn't bring them more pigs.

Here's the problem for a lot of the anti-CN evangelicals.
If all you have to show for yourself is managed decline and a generational drift into liberalism and apostasy, why should we care when you think we are getting it wrong by considering the former things you abandoned?
You should have something to show for yourselves other than pietistic appeals and personal conversion testimonies.
If none of that yields generational retention, it hasn't built anything that lasts. It is a failure.
