Stefan Thomas, former Ripple CTO and founder of Coil, has worked on Interledger, an open protocol for sending payments across different ledgers and currencies, since 2014. For most of that time, there was no lasting network to join.
Stefan at @RippleSwell presents Dassie, which is a permanent, peer-to-peer Interledger network where anyone can run a node. Dassie adds two layers on top of XRPL: settlement hubs, where regional validators run a fast ledger backed by a multi-signature XRPL account so members can pay each other quickly without trusting each other; and the Dassie network itself, where nodes peer automatically and route payments across currencies and ledgers, starting with XRP and RLUSD.
