Woah. Pay for a single NHS exec in East Cheshire jumps from £172k to £377k in a single year despite the fact that for the second year in a row the trust in question ranks bottom in the league tables for A&E wait times. Clearly, this shouldn’t be possible yet it is just one small example of the type of mismanagement of public funds which typifies our broken public sector and its wanton disregard for taxpayer money, and for which the British people deserve accountability. Incidentally, when Kemi Badenoch told Camilla Tominey on GB News this weekend that she invited Rupert Lowe onto the Public Accounts Committee because “he turned up for work”, this is, presumably, exactly what she meant. It’s hard to see many other leaders of political parties poring over line items of NHS expenditure in such granularity yet it is exactly this level of scrutiny-boring, unglamorous, devoid of media grabbing soundbites- that we need more of.
Holding the most senior NHS civil servants to account on failing executives receiving such outrageous salaries despite poor hospital performance. My view is to link the leadership pay to league tables and watch the overall scores fly up...

They just don’t understand businesses
These people are deeply stupid … Labour Minister Emma Reynolds says employers are NOT “working people”. They’re “companies”. Oh Emma …99.9% of British businesses are SMEs, providing 60% of private sector jobs. And you just trashed them. ▪️95% of British businesses are MICROBUSINESSES. Ordinary people running shops, farms, cafés, building firms and family businesses. Working longer hours than their staff. ▪️ they take fewer holidays and have no guaranteed sick pay or maternity leave/paternity leave ▪️ Pay their staff even when customers haven’t paid them. I remember not paying myself. Often. ▪️ pay themselves LAST. ▪️ risk their own savings and homes through personal guarantees. ▪️ responsible for tax, regulations, pensions and employer’s NI. ▪️ company directors taking a salary, are on PAYE, just like their employees! They take all the risk! What a stupid comment.

Ian Wright and Jamie Carragher on Liverpool not receiving a penalty for a shirt pull on Isak: Carragher: 'You have the best number 9 in the league, 5 yards out from goal, and he's pulled back, that is the clear stopping of a goal scoring opportunity' Wright: 'As an Arsenal fan, that absolutely has to be a penalty. No point saying he didn't do enough to get it; he shouldn't have to make a song and dance in order to be given a clear penalty' Carragher: 'VAR needs to do its job' Absolutely spot on from these two lads; even Ian, as an Arsenal fan, is claiming it should have been a penalty. What a farce to try and get Arteta his first win at Anfield...

So, just to make sure I've got this right... I can punch and break a female a police officer nose on camera, and get away with it. I can call for people’s throats to be slit if I don’t agree with them, and get away with it. But if I write a few words on the internet I can go to prison for over 2 years. Got it.

He did not ask for it to be added to the unit cost. He asked for it to be scrapped.
SNp Westminster leader Dave Doogan said in a debate in July 2024 that standing charges should be scrapped. But now that it is actually getting done, he is criticising the move by the UK Government. Here is where he said they should be scrapped: hansard.parliament.uk/common…

Of course it’s their fault. What the actual fuck, who else could it be? They relentless cutting of funding to infrastructure and council budgets in general is THE ONLY cause of the flooding. Bloody hell and you wonder why independence is dead as the dodo.

Dave Doogan and the snp have spent decades demanding the removal of standing charges. Utter charlatans.
Wait a minute, on gas prices... By moving the cost of the standing charge on to the unit rate - has Andy Burnham actually just put up energy bills for the majority of Scots? We are colder country & have to put the heating on more, the more gas we use, the higher price we pay!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
In 2024 Dave Doogan MP called for standing charges to be rolled into the unit price saying it would reduce usage lower bills cut carbon emissions and infrastructure costs. The government is now moving gas standing charge costs to the unit rate. hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2024-0… bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… heraldscotland.com/news/26676771.…
