For the late night crowd, the four-part series detailing Canada's start to the 2030 Olympic cycle is finished! Can view all four parts here along with the newly released one looking at goaltending & a potential line-up:

I'd be very interested in knowing if it's just my bias or if there's a spot in the ice just below the top of the face off circle a few feet from the slot where shooters are scoring with greater ease than ever because goalies don't have enough time to react to shots from there.

Just to recap:
- Sens are down to nine forwards
- Pulled Jonas Johansson for Sam Ersson
- Down 5-1 in the 3rd period, had their worst second period of the season.
- Had 25 minutes or so without a shot.
And the #Sens will come away from this game with a point, possibly two.
Imagine being the Senators fan that decided to stay up, watched a goalie change and the deficit get to 5-1. Win or lose when they wake up tomorrow they won't need coffee once they see the score.
Having seen the hit, calling it a full body injury would be appropriate. That's the kind of hit you take then lay down and not move for a day from. Clarke had a full run taken at him, rare to see such a blatant charge and hit from behind.

🚨 IT'S OVER🚨
THE SARNIA LEGIONNAIRES HAVE WON A GAME!!!
After 67 (!!) straight losses they've done it as they win 4-1 vs St Thomas.
Evan Bannister with the hat-trick & David Healy stops 54-55 (!!!) to pull it off.
Finally.
What a day for goaltending in NCAA D1 women's hockey. Delaware goaltender Charlotte Payne gets the 40-save shutout in a 1-0 win over Syracuse for Delaware's first shutout in D1. Then Livia Debnarova gets the 37-save 0-0 tie with a fully powered UConn line-up against her.
We came away with a tie against the No. 11 team in the nation tonight.

The #PWHL announced a few changes for the upcoming season, including expanding rosters to 24 players per team.
More on that, what else is new & my thoughts for @TheIceGarden at @TheIXSports: theixsports.com/news/pwhl-in…
Maya might as well be doing her version of the home run derby with the way she’s hitting these guest invites out of the ballpark
So honoured to have @AlisonL join the podcast this week :)

Some EA NHL 09 shit
Neither the U.S. or Canada knows whether its players will be permitted to wear their traditional crests when women's worlds begins next week.
Instead, they may be forced to wear generic jerseys from True Hockey. For example (per Swiss court docs):

Oh and Nicole Gosling has continued her elite play from last season. Sparre going from Winn to Gosling has to be laughing to himself.
Team Canada +'s & -'s:
+PK has vastly improved from zero to hero
+The added skill shined
+Shelton was Shelton
+Kraemer/Tremblay proved their worth
-Unnecessary DZ & NZ turnovers that led directly to US goals
-Not clearing the puck when the opportunity was there
-PP still bad
The Kori Cheverie and Daniele Sauvageau believers are feasting tonight. Cheverie in her first head coaching gig for Team Canada breaks the eight game losing streak in an impressive performance from the team. Canada looking a lot more like the Canada we saw pre-2024
Even ignoring the goals, Cailtin Kraemer and Rosalie Tremblay have shown very quickly why they're here. Tremblay has especially shown why everyone was raving about her at training camp. Kraemer is proving all her believers right.
AFTER 2 | Still a two-goal lead for 🇨🇦 over 🇺🇸 with 40 minutes finished.
APRÈS 40 MIN | Le 🇨🇦 a encore une avance de deux buts contre les 🇺🇸.

She's had some questionable defensive zone turnovers on breakouts but she has does very well in creating offence. Better puck management in the DZ will go a long way to keeping her on Team Canada past this tournament.
When I spoke with @TheHockeyNews earlier in the week, I said that Danielle Serdachny would be my player to watch for Canada.
She hasn’t found the back of the net tonight, but she’s looking very confident with the puck. Drew the penalty shot and just had a good breakaway chance.
I'm glad this is brought up. It's funny that the question has been "Can Canada keep up with the US" when that's not a problem in the PWHL or the NCAA. It was just a problem on Team Canada for some reason...
Most offence I've seen from Canada in a period vs the US since the 2025 Worlds Gold Medal Game
🚨 GOAL! / BUT! Caitlin Kraemer!
🇨🇦 2-0 🇺🇸

So they broke up Shelton/Fast. Manness is a 13th forward? Not a fan of that. Don't hate the lines. Curious to see how they deploy Jaques and how Maltais works next to Kraemer/Stacey.
Lined up and ready to go. 🇨🇦
Notre formation est fin prête. 🇨🇦

Canada vs USA in less than an hour! If you're looking for some reading pre and post game, there's a four-part series on Team Canada from management to the coaches to the roster on the substack:

Already seeing the narrative that Canada has added NCAA players because it worked so well for the USA. I don’t think there’s much truth in that. Canada added Kraemer, Tremblay, & Manness mostly because they had no choice. If MPP, Nurse, & Turnbull were available they’d be here.
