$SCHD Rebalance Update 📝 Friday’s quarterly $SCHD rebalance is complete. The new weights will be live for trading Monday, but we likely won’t actually see the updated SCHD holdings on Schwab until Tuesday, since Schwab reports holdings as of the previous business day. Remember, this is a relatively small quarterly maintenance adjustment, not the full March reconstitution. No stocks are being added or removed as part of this rebalance. Holdings are simply reweighted based on the index rules, with individual stocks capped at 4% and sectors capped at 25%. Any excess weight is redistributed across the rest of the portfolio. One important detail: the weighting snapshot for this rebalance was taken after the close on Sept. 2. So a stock being above or below 4% in the holdings you see today doesn’t necessarily tell us whether it was trimmed. The rebalance is based on where the portfolio stood on that reference date. Here were $SCHD’s top holdings before the changes, as of Sept. 17: $MRK 4.91% $ABT 4.49% $AMGN 4.30% $KO 4.28% $CVX 4.27% $COP 4.09% $PG 4.03% $VZ 3.97% $UNH 3.81% $HD 3.70% Tuesday should give us our first clean look at the new top holdings and weights. 🤔
