Me and my friend used to go take lectures at UniJos before we got admission. Go into class and consume knowledge haha
That's why I laugh when people say we speak Hausa in Jos😅
When I was in Kano once I open my mouth to speak, they'd say "Kana yin hausan Jos" and laugh at me, basically 'Pidgin Hausa'.
The shocker comes when they speak hausa and there are certain things I didn't understand. – at Jos, Nigeria
Going through the cs of this post, every single word defines a complete Nigerian experience; I heard all of them before starting SS1 (10th grade)😂🥲
Mind you, growing up, I genuinely thought words like “gallivanting” “vex” “perambulate” “rigmarole” etc. were all Pidgin English because they were such regular features of everyday Pidgin conversations. 😭

Has Ethereum lost its soul?
Day 2 at @EFDevcon Mumbai. 🇮🇳
It pains me to say it, but the mood feels a bit disenchanted. You can see it in the half-empty rooms and in the hallway conversations.
I've been to every Devcon since Cancún 2017. Back then, the narrative was about inclusion and empowering the weak.
For those of us coming from emerging countries, it was a tool to circumvent bad institutions (and maybe build better ones bringing the rule of law where it was lacking.)! Many of us Argentines got into Ethereum because stablecoins were the way around capital controls. It wasn't an ideology. It was a survival tool.
For people from advanced economies, it was a way to escape government and big tech surveillance.
Then the narrative started drifting. DeFi yields, NFTs, memecoins... Each cycle brought more money and less talk about the common person. There are still talks on those original topics, but more and more the stage seems to reflect the worldview of Silicon Valley elites: transhumanism, longevity, life beyond biology.
The contrast couldn't be sharper. Inside, conversations about transcending the human condition, governing societies through futarchy and handing DAO governance decisions over to AI. Outside, the chaos of Mumbai's streets, where millions hustle to survive and deal with very human problems every day.
My impression from day 2 is that Ethereum is at a crossroads: solving the problems of nerds and Silicon Valley, or addressing the every day problems of real people.
The real test isn't whether Ethereum scales, but for what and for whom. If it ends up as a playground for a tiny niche of insiders talking to each other, we can expect emptier conferences every year.
Sorry for the pessimistic take. 🥲 Hoping day 3 finds me in better spirits!

Bola Tinubu before 2023 election: "I inherited great real estate; I turned the values around."
Bola Tinubu before 2027 election: "When I first arrived in the United States as a young man, I drove a taxi to earn money for my education. I even had to postpone starting school for several months to save enough."
If you're going to lie to the people, at least be smart enough to not get caught😊.

Four days before the famous 9/11 tragedy, religious crisis erupted in Jos, Nigeria. Close to 2,000 people were killed in the span of 4 days with around 50,000 persons displaced. I’d be surprised if a third of Nigeria’s population are aware of this.
Africans everywhere are sympathising with and remembering 9/11, and they understand memory's importance in statecraft.
It is when it comes to other Africans remembering the injustice in their own countries that they start talking about "victimhood" & "that was in the past".
Somehow, even the sacred, human act of memory remains colonised—permanently centred on the West. It is as though the Global South is denied the dignity of its own grief, always secondary to the comfort of the Empire.
The first thing my lawyer told me was that, don’t help them. Let them do their work and only confirm what they already know. I had a lawyer on retainer so he was at EFCC office even before I got there, this caused a big problem because they claim i shouldn’t have a lawyer on the go when I’m not a criminal.
EFCC combed my bank account for 5 days, going through every single transactions from 2017 till 2024, saw a transaction of up to N5M as at 2017 and claimed it was a red flag. Note that they didn’t have any evidence to link it to any crime.
EFCC combed through my phones, read hundreds of emails, browsing history, purchase receipts, etc dating back as far as 2017, took me in for profiling three times, and yet, they couldn’t find any shred of evidence linking me to internet fraud
EFCC told me that they have reason to detain me for up to 21 days without trial because according to them, I shouldn’t have N5M(single transaction) in my account as at 2017. Let that sink in!!
They detained me for 8 days, tortured me for 3hrs the first day and yet they couldn’t find a single, or any shred of evidence linking me to cybercrime. Do you know how crazy it is for EFCC to investigate you for 8 days without finding any evidence of the crime you were arrested for?
EFCC told me point blank that we know you’re not into fraud but “we can’t simply let you leave due to the huge sum found in your account”
EFCC told my lawyer I said I don’t want to see him three times before he was eventually allowed in
EFCC told my family that I declined their visitation request.
Lastly EFCC said those who confessed to have committed internet fraud will leave the detention before me and they did. I was the last person to leave despite not finding a single evidence of cybercrime or internet fraud even till now

We really need churches to look like churches again. This event center thing is not it at all. Architecture affects worship.

Liatu Samuel Dawa has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment.
She did not kill,
She did not steal,
She did not lie nor abuse anyone,
Her only crime is coming from Northern Nigeria, telling someone about Jesus the Savior and the person becoming a Christian. In many let’s of Arewa North, it’s a criminal offence punishable by death for a Muslim to convert to Christianity.
Nothing must happen to Liatu Samuel Dawa. We will collectively follow up on this case and make sure she gets justice.

Her only offense is telling someone about Jesus in Bornu State. She deserves to live, she doesn’t deserve prison sentence.
Laitu Samuel Dawa must be released unconditionally now.
