If you smoke a pack a day, Indiana's new cigarette tax will cost you $2 a day, $730 per year. If you quit smoking, you'll save ~$10.70 per day, $3,905 per year. Quitting is hard, but there's resources to help. Good for your health. Good for your wallet. quitnowindiana.com/

If any Colts execs have jobs after this massacre, it will be a miracle.

It's because the price of candy feels like 100% higher than it was a year ago. Big bag of chocolate bars is like $20.
The National Retail Federation estimates consumers will spend $13.5 billion this year on Halloween, or about $400 million more than last year. cnn.it/4BvVX4p

Depending on what the payout is, I'd buy the Engling bet. I would strongly advise wagering against the "I don't know anything about my ballot" straight-ticket voter who is not engaged at all but who will run up free R votes in this state.

When I covered rural elections, about 40-50% of votes to come in via the straight-party button, voters who auto-fill and leave. Analysis of nonpartisan/unopposed races showed undervotes of more than 20%, meaning 1-in-5 autofillers didn't act on the remainder of the ballot.

Question: If you eliminate property taxes for homeowners, are you ALSO eliminating property taxes for rentals, farmers and businesses? If yes, do you realize how much a shift to workers/consumers that will be and how huge a break for businesses?

And if no, say farewell to purported savings from eliminating the county assessor's office. Also, if you just eliminate for homeowners, you'd see much higher income/sales tax rates in areas that are heavy residential base (suburbs, small towns) that lack industrial tax base.

Had someone tell me yesterday that "Now is not the time" to vote for an independent. My response: "If people don't start supporting more and other options now and consistently in the future, we'll soon be right back to R vs. D with no other option." washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

When I was watching them against Purdue Fort Wayne, CJ Cox was clearly on a different level. But if you had to ask me who the No. 2 contributor was on this squad, I couldn't answer. It felt like Painter was searching for one in these exhibitions but no one was emerging.
FINAL Gonzaga on Monday night in Vegas for the opener. ✅: Cox - 18 pts, 7 rebs ✅: Benter - 8 pts ✅: Jacobsen - 7 pts, 4 blks, 3 rebs

"Bray said the suspension of fuel taxes had left the state with an estimated $1.2 billion shortfall for road work." Who could have seen that coming except literally everyone?
Senate Pro Tem @bray_rodric tells Greenwood Rotary the redistricting fight was one of the most challenging periods of his life, and he stands behind the Senate’s decision. Also: a $1.2B road shortfall, and Medicaid is now about 24% of the budget. indypolitics.org/bray-defend…

You'll also notice that Kyiv, which is hit almost daily by Russian kamikaze drones, is nowhere near the front lines of the war. Because it's a terrorism operation.
Replying to @TheStudyofWar
2/ Russian forces have made effectively zero net gains in 2026 at the cost of over 40,000 casualties per month since July and around 458 casualties for every square kilometer of territory that Russian forces lost.

Cast my vote today. Several hundred people at Ivy Tech here in Fort Wayne casting ballots. More than I expected for a midterm. I cast a nice mixed ballot. Voted no on the ballot questions and no on casino. Ballard. Mix of candidates in local races. Left a couple blank. Go vote!

Didn't they already try (and fail) with this exact same thing with the Brenda Wilson/Alexandra Wilson thing in the Greg Goode primary?
