I was completely confused because my husband and I had been trying to have a baby for three years without success.
His boss was the last person I should have been involved with, but what started as one terrible decision turned into a secret affair.
Whenever my husband travelled, his boss would come to our house, and I would pretend nothing was happening.
I knew I was destroying my marriage, but I couldn’t bring myself to end the affair.
Then, two weeks ago, I discovered I was pregnant.
I was terrified because I genuinely didn’t know whether the baby belonged to my husband or his boss.
I decided to leave my marriage before the truth came out.
When I told my husband I wanted a divorce, he didn’t argue. He didn’t even ask me why.
He just looked at me and said, “So, he finally told you?”
I froze.
“Told me what?”
My husband stood up, walked to his wardrobe, and brought out a folder.
Inside were printed screenshots of my messages with his boss, photographs of us together, and a document I had never seen before.
Then he said something that made my knees weak.
“That man isn’t who you think he is.”
I stared at him.
He turned the document toward me.
It was a DNA paternity report.
And the name on it was the name of the man I had been calling my lover for seven months.
My husband looked me in the eyes and whispered:
“You need to ask him why he came back into our lives after fifteen years.” 😭💔

A yahoo boy from my department got married last year. The wedding was the talk of the town. He used about 3 cows, multiple goats and more. He was already building a house at the time.
The project stopped at lintel stage. He stopped cashing out, started eating into his savings and never recovered. The store he opened for his wife was nearly emptied because of his hard drug habit.
His wife reached out to me recently to help find him a job. She said they could barely feed.
I told her to ask him to text me.
He refused. He said his pride would not allow him text someone who was trekking and barely changing shirts while he was driving back in school.
She begged me to text him first instead.
I refused. I said when his pride drops, he will text.
He finally texted.
"Please look for a job for me but the salary should not be less than 150,000 naira."

A Canadian minimum wage earner earns C$15.90 to C$17.00 an hour . That's roughly N24,000 per hour at current rates. A Nigerian minimum wage earner earns N70,000 per month . That's roughly N404 per hour.
So a Canadian works one hour for what a Nigerian works 60 hours for.

I bought fuel yesterday in Toronto, Canada, at $1.7999 CAD per litre, and it cost about $98.95 CAD to fill up my tank. This should ideally last me about a week or more.
Now, the minimum wage in Canada is $17.95 CAD per hour, which means someone who works an average of 8 hours a day will earn $143.60 CAD before tax. A day's salary is enough to fuel his or her car for 2–3 weeks. This means that even one of the lowest earners in Canada can afford to own and drive a car daily without the cost of fuel becoming an overwhelming burden. Public education for children is also free and of high quality.
In Nigeria, fuel is about ₦1,300 per litre. It would cost about ₦88,000 to fill up a similar tank. The minimum wage in Nigeria is ₦70,000 per month. This means that an entire month's minimum wage cannot even fill the tank once.
A minimum-wage earner in Nigeria cannot realistically afford to own, fuel, and maintain a car. The same person still has to afford food, rent, children's education, healthcare, electricity, transportation, and other basic necessities. The list goes on.
In fact, even a bank manager in Nigeria earning ₦1 million monthly could still struggle to maintain a decent standard of living after covering these basic expenses.
This is one reason poverty is so widespread in Nigeria. The cost of basic living is simply too high relative to what the average person earns.
You don't just have an income problem in Nigeria. You have an affordability problem.
For millions of Nigerians, simply living a decent life has become too expensive and increasingly impossible.
