Will Trump be impeached? What could happen if Democrats win midterms? Impeachment is back on the minds of Democrats as they sense a return to power after the midterm elections — but figures across the party are wary of launching a third attempt to bring down President Trump. No American president has ever lost an impeachment conviction vote in the Senate, where a two-thirds majority is required for removal from office. Moreover, the two Senate votes that Trump survived in his first term — after being impeached in the House of Representatives — appeared only to make him stronger in the eyes of his support base. However, should they win back control of the House of Representatives, Democrats appear united that one of Trump’s cabinet secretaries should face the ultimate constitutional sanction to remove a federal civil officer for “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors”. 🔗 Tap the link to read the full story by @DavidCharter ⬇️ thetimes.com/us/american-pol…

Just lovely.
Harry Kane’s words to his family, One of the most beautiful #BallonDor speeches ever: 🤍 All those years, the sacrifice, taking me to training, coming to watch me play all around England... There was never any pressure to become a footballer. It was always about working hard.

At least 15 Secret Service agents in close proximity to Trump, six noisy interruptions already by people who were quickly thrown out. Never seen a Trump rally as raucously interrupted as this one in South Carolina

A seasoned Fox commentator doesn't think Trump's midterm tactics are working
Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume: Trump cuddling up to Vladimir Putin at this moment and turning his back on President Zelensky, I don’t think this plays well. Americans can’t stand Putin.

Another view from a British Conservative
🔥 Max Hastings gives Trump both barrels and not before time. Trump made 30,573 false or misleading claims during his first term. Now the lying, bullying and grotesque inversion of truth have become instruments of government, while billionaires and political courtiers compete for seats at his table. The victims are the Ukrainian people being bombed, betrayed and blamed while Trump appeases Putin. Hastings is right: democracies must stop treating industrial-scale dishonesty as background noise. “This is a lie” must become our collective reply.

Much punchier accusations from Sir Malcolm Rifkind - a former defence and foreign secretary: "I choose my words very carefully. I think this week Donald Trump has shown himself as a person to be repulsive; as a President of the United States to be a disgrace to his own people as well as to his international responsibilities. "We all know his actual reasons for this are a grubby attempt to win a few more votes in the midterms by trying to get oil prices down. "In order to achieve that, he has not only betrayed Ukraine in the middle of a war, fighting for its very existence, but he is also directly - not indirectly - directly responsible for the deaths of many Ukrainians who will not now be protected by the attempts that have been successfully made using intelligence provided indirectly by the United States." nitter.cf/breeallegretti/status/…

Zelenskyy: "When our strikes reached Yandex data centers, it suddenly became little easier to breathe on many social media platforms. Many people noticed it. There was less hate, less division, fewer provocations because there were fewer bots. It's pretty clear where those bots were coming from. If they disappeared when Yandex went offline, this proves once again that Europe is not the source of the problems." The big problem is that Russia figured out how modern society consumes information a decade ago, but the West hasn't. There are millions of bots commenting and posting Russian propaganda. There are paid influencers spreading it, with Russian bots supporting their content. There is a gigantic machine operating to radicalize and influence Western societies, and there is not enough defense in place. It doesn't just influence elections, it sows discord, engulfs societies in culture wars, radicalizes teenagers, and shapes political decisions when elected officials fail to read the room. That needs to change. And fast.

Huge drop in Google searches for various health disinformation topics following the Ukrainian strikes on Russian data centers. It makes you wonder how much of the “turbo cancer, ivermectin” nonsense is really fueled by Russian bots, & how many Americans they’ve killed…

A must-watch exchange between Brian @kilmeade and Rachel Campos-Duffy on FOX & Friends about Ukraine and Trump’s Russian diesel deal. Here’s the full transcript: CAMPOS-DUFFY: I know you're a big fan of Zelensky, but yesterday President Trump said maybe it's time for an election and a new leader in Ukraine because Zelensky keeps blowing up these refineries after the president said, "Please don't do that," especially before the midterms. He keeps doing it, and it's hurting President Trump and the administration, who's been very generous toward him and his war effort. KILMEADE: The president got ticked off because Zelensky came out and said, "Do not buy 5 million tons of diesel," which is in violation, I thought, of the bill they just signed, Lindsey Graham's bill, that says if you buy any energy from Russia, you're going to get sanctioned with tariffs. Are we going to tariff ourselves? So I have no idea. Zelensky's frustrated because now all this money is going to flow into Russia, which started this whole war unprovoked. They are the bad guys, and there is no way Zelensky turned down any plausible deal. In fact, since that time, when they told him he was going to lose the Donbas, he has gained back portions of the Donbas. CAMPOS-DUFFY: Are you saying that there were no peace efforts? KILMEADE: There was no plausible, practical peace effort that Vladimir Putin would participate in effectively that would end this war. There's one person who is responsible: Vladimir Putin. That is it. And he gets his ass kicked. CAMPOS-DUFFY: There was a peace deal that—I think Turkey was trying to broker it, and Boris Johnson advised Zelensky not to take that deal. KILMEADE: It doesn't matter. I don't know what Boris Johnson's doing now. Is he in a retirement home? CAMPOS-DUFFY: I think there's a reason why the president is buying diesel from Russia, and that's because Zelensky keeps blowing up the refineries. KILMEADE: Can you blame him? That's the war machine that's killing his people, that bombs apartment buildings. CAMPOS-DUFFY: But he's dependent on us, and the president said, "Don't do this." Are you for America or for Ukraine? KILMEADE: The diesel fuel got stopped because Iran was blowing up the Gulf states' oil and their refineries, and now all of a sudden there's a new emphasis on Russia. But for me, the way Ukraine innovated drone technology in order to take out what's fueling the Russian war machine is phenomenal. They'll be writing about this in war journals forever. The Ukrainians have modernized modern war before our very eyes. CAMPOS-DUFFY: I'm not so sure that's a positive, Brian. I mean, there are 30,000 young men on each side who are dying every single month. KILMEADE: Vladimir Putin. CAMPOS-DUFFY: Every single month. We should not be practicing drone technology and using these kids as guinea pigs. KILMEADE: What kids? CAMPOS-DUFFY: The soldiers. These are young men… KILMEADE: Rachel, these are in response to attacks. They're getting rocketed, so they found a way… CAMPOS-DUFFY: The president said he wanted peace in Ukraine, and he said he was going to do that. KILMEADE: Tell Vladimir Putin. CAMPOS-DUFFY: Well, now, because of what Zelensky is doing, we're probably going to get peace there because President Trump is now working with Russia, because Zelensky is so arrogant. KILMEADE: It would be the biggest mistake of his administration to work with Russia. That is the modern Hitler of our generation. He is the cause of all the problems in the region, and now he's helping Iran kill our guys and blow up our bases. And now, yeah, the story you pointed out to me today in The Wall Street Journal—you see that they and China are providing drones to the Houthis. China and Russia are the problem.
