In 2011 when President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua died, the argument of the Northern elite that supported him was simple:
It was the Will of God for Yar’Adua to die and for Jonathan to preside.
Jonathan got so much support from the Northern elite and good votes that Buhari’s base knew exactly who and who to target and the palaces of several Emirs and PDP chieftains were burned down in reprisal.
The first expectation from any Political Leadership is good governance and where an incumbent has failed, patriots must jettison every other agenda in order not to reward bad leadership which will become even worse in a second term.
The Presidency is not the birthright of Arewa for sure but we will call on Arewa to help us vote out bad leadership whenever Nigeria needs it.
Also: to several hells with this feudalist North/South nonsense that has excluded one south zone by deliberation and only included another by unforeseen circumstances.
#TinubuMustGo is a national rallying cry!
The sooner you people understand that being President is not Arewa’s birthright, the better for the unity of this country.
President Buhari, a northerner, spent 8 years in power, and you never demanded that he be replaced.
Now, just 4 years into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidency, you want another northerner to take over.
It’s not happening. The South must complete its full 8 years.
That’s the agreement.

My very very personal-political opinion:
If the Adelekes want to stake the political future of their dynasty on associating with a losing President then ‘congratulations’ still to Democracy.
Let same Democracy also prevail in that dear state, from campaigns to election.

By aligning themselves so firmly, the Accord Party candidates in Osun are putting themselves in a position of compromise and some opposition campaigns in the SW will be robust in jointly calling them out along with Bola Tinubu.

You see this half here half there that some of you are doing - vote APC, vote ADC there - it’s allowed to any voter.
But a time will come in this struggle where we’ll have to firmly pick sides in a two-horse race to answer the question:
Do we want this wicked govt out, or not?
I have withdrawn my support for APC aspirants – ‘Tinubu Must Go’ coordinator Hikima

The race margins will become so tight and the numbers so precious that every party chieftain may have to register their entire domestic house staff in tour own home PU so that WikeTVs won’t be announcing your PU loss by 12 midday to sway voters still voting in other places.

2027 is more than an election; it is a test of our values as a nation.
Part of the reason 2027 is so important is because of things like this.
People feel that they can ignore the fact that a president is presiding over the worst cost-of-living crisis in history and still go ahead and endorse him for a second term for political reasons.
2027 sends a clear message about what kind of country we are and how much of that we want to normalize and continue!

As some have astutely observed, let the record now reflect that for the 2027 general election, an official spokesperson of the Tinubu Presidency first deployed the use of AI Generated content against opponents.
(Good to see Egbon Lere now deployed as the APC Troll Farm Manager.)

"AI-generated impersonation has reached Nigerian institutions. On 29 May 2025, NNPC Limited disowned a video that used a cloned voice of its Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Bashir Ojulari, to promote a fictitious poverty-alleviation scheme, and regulators in South Africa and Ghana issued comparable alerts in the months that followed.
Surfshark's analysis of documented incidents puts global losses from deepfake fraud at US$335 million in 2024 and US$2.5 billion in 2025, with US$3.7 billion recorded between January 2020 and June 2026. On Proshare's computation, recorded losses rose about 7.5 times in one year, and the series counts only documented cases.
Joyce Onyegbula, a strategic communications professional, argues that boards and executive teams should own the response. In her account, an institution protects its voice through three connected capabilities, i.e. verification of what is authentic, clear authority over who speaks for it, and a record of conduct that makes its response credible. She places communications leaders inside that governance structure early enough to identify vulnerabilities and shape proportionate responses before an incident.
Ms Onyegbula frames the issue as a governance imperative for business leaders and investors. Issuers, banks and capital market operators release price-sensitive information through executives whose faces and voices are public, and we must track how they and their regulators establish verified channels for official announcements."

Deepfakes are turning reputation risk into a governance issue, not merely a communications problem.
In this commentary, Joyce Onyegbula examines how AI-generated impersonation can reproduce the familiar signals of institutional authority, including executive voices, faces, logos and official-looking announcements, without the organisation’s consent. Recent cases involving @nnpclimited and financial regulators in South Africa and Ghana show how quickly fabricated content can be used to promote fraudulent schemes.
