This is such a failed design for FPS games. Most gaming monitors come with a built-in crosshair already. Wasting resources on extra crosshair checks instead of having it permanently visible is just raw stupidity.
I am officially banned from all of Battlefield 4 because I had a crosshair overlay that was active 5 YEARS ago that was on for FIVE SECONDS because I forgot to turn it off when I swapped games.
Battlefield Agency has to be the most corrupt, inexcusable, disgusting thing this community has to offer, banning anyone they want for any reason they deem offensive to them, banning people from the remaining 5 servers if they find you too toxic, glitching or sus, how is such a corrupt and disgusting platform allowed to have so much power when their administration can't average a 2kd let alone have the correct opinion on whether or not someone is cheating.
These people are shrinking the remaining community until it fizzles out, multiple LEGIT players banned for glitches that they were NOT TOLD PRIOR ABOUT BEING BANNABLE BTW are now unable to play the game because of their stronghold on the remaining Battlefield servers.
What a complete disaster this was. Each of them even has pronouns top right and a weird DEI-gradient on the ability text.
The thing about websites that were free access for decades suddenly deciding to go login only is the massive amount of traffic loss.
Soundcloud tried that, they switched back 1 week after. Now Reddit is doing it, which is much worse since they also lose the search engine links.
ArcheAge Chronicles made some fixes prior to the Early Access launch in a few days.
- Wall of Fire: deserved nerf / Wavesword: rebalance
- "Tuned" skills: ?
- Skills pass through monsters less often: this was very annoying but they only say "less often", so no complete fix
Steam messed this up for everyone by not respecting the normal game development cycle and introducing a global "Early Access".
Normal: Closed Alpha > Closed Beta > Open Beta (multiple) > Launch
Steam: Early Access > Scam or Launch
Early Access is like the last Open Beta already.
Big publishers are making life harder for indie developers using Early Access.
Denis Dyack, CEO of Apocalypse Studios, says games like Subnautica 2 and Path of Exile are changing what players expect from Early Access.
When big games launch in a polished state, players start expecting the same quality from smaller studios with less money and fewer people.
“AAA publishers are abusing Early Access,” Dyack says.
His advice to developers is to “Treat Early Access like a real launch, because players do.”
Google's AI overviews are filled with misinformation. Now Google is losing ad revenue due to the overviews.
Google making everything worse and losing money on top of it is an interesting business model.
Bethesda completely lost it.
The name The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel doesn't fit the mood of previous titles, why not just calling it Hammerfell?
The prisoner at the start of Skyrim was talking about already being halfway to Hammerfell if he didn't get caught.
According to The Verge, an official announcement of The Elder Scrolls VI will happen very soon, even as early as next month. It will be called "The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel", and will take place in the province of Hammerfell. The game's story will focus on the Elder Scrolls artifacts themselves, and uncovering the secrets of the Scrolls.

There's a very low probably the internal files that ended up in that Elden Ring public build were a Human mistake.
4 years after ELDEN RING's release, we have unexpectedly received a bounty of new internal files. These include many dialogue subtitles which were never seen before, spoken by characters we've never heard of in cut content!
You can browse them here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets…
That's some insane level of optimization.
In contrast, Windows once failed to port a pinball game from x32 to x64 and shipped without it.
In 2004, an open-source project called KolibriOS forked from MenuetOS and took an unusual approach to operating system design.
Its kernel, most drivers, and many applications were written entirely in x86 Assembly.
It has preemptive multitasking, a graphical desktop, TCP/IP networking, text editors, media players, and dozens of games. Its bootable floppy edition, complete with a GUI and several applications, fits on a single 1.44 MB floppy disk.
Older versions could run with just 8 MB of RAM.
An actual graphical operating system. On a floppy disk.
So, the new Mass Effect got cancelled because of DEI-elements. The new management probably saw what happened to these type of games and didn't want to risk another, $200m or such, flop.
A former BioWare employee claims the studio was asked to remove a flag from a presentation for the canceled Mass Effect Universe project because it looked too much like the LGBTQIA+ flag.
The employee said the new management wasn’t convinced by the project:
“I think the video proposals we presented to the new management weren’t convincing.”
They also said BioWare being known for inclusive storytelling “didn’t help to dispel the skepticism.”
One specific example involved a flag in a presentation video. The team was asked to remove it because it was:
“looking too much like the LGBTQIA+ flag”
The reason given was reportedly:
“not to offend.”
Already? Was expecting 1 month.
1 week is not enough to assess and comprehend the demo's shortcomings AND redesign and deploy fixes.
This should be done before early access, not during it, or the demo had no real purpose for development.

Blizzard's patch notes for World of Warcraft: Forever in a nutshell:

- Orcs are now as intelligent as Humans

File history should not be on by default and the default settings of it are a backup every hour plus permanent storage of every single one.
It does quickly add up. To prevent any useless writes on your drives disable it and also the following if you have: OneDrive, Windows Backup
2025 was pretty solid for gaming
this was my personal game of the year nominees (posted in my 2025 article) and I had disqualified 2 of them
Store > Recommendations > Explore my Calendar
This doesn't work, it's built on the already in-place recommendation system that just shows you irrevelent genre results on each game page.
My calendar tends towards 0% accuracy, shows 1 game that I'm interested in (already have it)
Steam’s Personal Calendar is now officially available after nearly a year in Steam Labs with personalized list of recent and upcoming games based on what you play.
• Steam analyzes your most-played games and finds players with similar habits.
• It uses what those players play or wishlist to recommend games.
• The calendar covers 8 weeks and updates daily.
• It includes wishlisted games, Early Access titles, and DLC.
• Developers cannot pay for placement, recommendations are automatic.
Steam says users click more than 2,000 different games every 24 hours via the calendar.
World of Warcraft had this issue when increasing render distance, I think it was back in Cataclysm when they did rework every zone, the close fog removal made the game look very small.
Fog was primarily used for performance in old games but it ended up being needed for depth.
Done with everything in the Final Fantasy Resonance demo, that chimera was the last thing remaining.
- expert
- not buying consumables
- avoiding extra fights
The game is better than my first impression of it, mostly due to the vision system, also better than the old FFs (1-6).
Gonna try out the demo of Final Fantasy Resonance, the trailer looks like pixel-art mixed with 3D cinematics, not really sure what to expect here.
Consumer sockets are trash compared to what HEDT was.
Consumer has 28 lanes (or less), one lane is x16 next to the CPU for the GPU, 2 GPUs would run at x8 only. Plus, using a PCIe lane deactivates 2 SATA ports.
HEDT you could plug something in every single port, it had 64 lanes.
