This stuff happens, but actually, this is likely one of the types of test cases that would happen most naturally. Hardware tests usually have fresh wipes, and wouldn’t have any other titles or save data on the device.

Releasing a highly portable controller that’s great for tiny hands in the worst color for all of those use cases is such a ā€œtoo big to failā€ move.
Say hello to the perfect little adventure buddy. The XBOX Nano Controller is available today: xbx.lv/3UDpmsK

Requires 2 controllers when they do not bundle 2 controllers. Very rich.

This one from @TheSoundFXGuy was essential this weekend in teaching me how I could get some radio stations performant, and not choking out my audio. youtu.be/1FfbEO8hCgU?is=eMSN…
I think I wanna start sharing some of the types of tutorials that are essential to gamedev stuff that nobody thinks about when dreaming their dream games, or getting started.

It also prevents me from going on ā€œvibes only sidequestsā€; like how all of the cart floats are pitch modulated into the notes and sequence of the overworld melody — if you time it right, you can perform the bass line alongside the music.

So the THPS sound, for example, plays when you are pinging the speed radar traps and getting a new daily record. In other projects, I’ve used things like the MGS alert sound to signify being spotted or chased.

Ha! Guilty! I have a ā€œnot clearedā€ folder for sounds that will be replaced with actual designed elements. What I’ve found in early prototypes is that people don’t know what new sounds mean, but if you use popular placeholders, it gives them contextual idea instantly.

I’m still building all of my solo indie nonsense by hand, and using things that are far out of my depth. I love the journey, but am interested to see how a more ethical stride guardrailed by the criticism might look.

Things like State Tree, which is a huge improvement over Behavior Trees in many respects, but there isn’t even a search bar for states, and debugging live behaviors was taking hours per error just using the interface.

It’s become difficult because I align with the harshest sentiments around generative AI, training theft, and data centers. But due diligence has also shown models being able to solve problems or workflows in Epic’s own tools that so fresh that there just aren’t experts in yet.

And in celebration of the spooky season fall vibes, here’s some progress on being able to rake, blow, and feed cronchy leaves to Bew. (Still need to get him to eat when you’re using an empty water gun).
