As a Civil Engineering student, I'm learning that our work isn't just about buildings and roads. It's also about the future we want to create.
The goal isn't just to build more, but to build better. 🌱

Civil Engineering meets the SDGs 🌍🏗️
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Strong roads, resilient bridges, and sustainable infrastructure are more than engineering projects; they're essential to economic growth and community development.
Here's what I find fascinating.
A column that looks perfectly ordinary can represent a series of engineering calculations and design decisions.
Its dimensions aren't supposed to be chosen by guesswork or appearance. They must be determined through proper structural analysis

🚨 Node.js patches 10 security flaws, including a high-severity Brotli decoder bug that could allow RCE when apps decompress attacker-controlled data.
Patches are out for versions 22.x, 24.x, and 26.x.

It's not just about weight. 👀
Engineers must also consider factors such as:
• The column's height and slenderness
• The strength of the concrete and reinforcement
• Bending moments and other forces
• Stability and buckling
A column can face challenges beyond simply

‼️ PHP UPDATE: A public exploit for the leaked PHP flaws is now online, complete with downloadable code, hours before the patch.
Its author, who posts as J4ck3LSyN, says it was recreated and "lab/field tested", and labels one of the two bugs "weaponized (lab)".
The PoC was recently updated, admitting the attack chain it first described does not work.
A separate exploit credited to security firm Calif was shown running commands on a WordPress test site in a video that was briefly posted.
PHP's fix is due at 14:00 UTC today.

Let's talk about Broken Access Control. 🔥🔥
Imagine you're logged into a website and discover that changing an ID in the URL lets you view another user's private information.
That could be an IDOR vulnerability.
The interesting part? You can be properly logged in and still access something you're not authorized to see.
That's why authentication alone isn't enough. An application must also check what each user is allowed to access.
Authentication asks, "Who are you?"
Authorization asks, "What are you allowed to access?"
Because sometimes, the problem isn't getting into an account. It's what you can access after you're already logged in.
