I asked Ben Humrichous - a former NAIA player who just competed in the Final Four - if he has an appreciation for that unlikely journey.
I was moved by his answer.
"When the buzzer sounded all I wanted to say was praise God - for the gift that this was... By God's grace... It's unlikely... God's sovereign hand being that in that... He did so many incredible things... God's grace just supplied what I need."

16-year-old Cooper Lutkenhaus improves his personal best, already the HS record, by an enormous 3+ seconds to take second in the #USATFOutdoors final in 1:42.27.
He sets a new U18 world record and becomes the youngest athlete ever to represent Team USA at a World Championship.
Lutkenhaus moved from seventh to second in the last 200m, splitting a ridiculous 12.48 last 100m down the homestretch.

Also, imagine the 2:00, 800m athletes you know throwing shot, javelin, or doing high jump at the same level. Obviously she trains for this and that’s a huge factor, but that context gives some directional insight.

At the Hypomeeting Götzis, @annaahalll closed out her heptathlon with a 2:01.23 personal best in the 800 meters (and the fastest in heptathlon history!) to score 7032 total points and is now ties for No. 2 on the all-time list with Sweden's Carolina Klüft!
She is just the fifth woman in history to break 7000 points.
