Raw, contrarian takes on the domain name market. Telling you what the domain industrial complex won't.

.SI HOLDERS: The Domain Industrial Complex (DIC) won't tell you what it doesn't want you to know. These DICs won't acknowledge .si's moonshot potential until they've positioned themselves and hedged their .ai portfolios. Higher .si floors are likely near term.

We embrace labels like “altTLD” and “alternative TLD.” Alternative = cool. Alternative is The Velvet Underground. .com is Taylor Swift.

Agreed. It's not literally zero-sum. One TLD succeeding doesn't require another to fail. But the industry's .com-first mentality creates a quasi-zero-sum game, treating alternatives as threats rather than opportunities to grow the market. @atomhq seems to understand this, and their front end is the best in the game. Credit where it is due.
Domains are not a zero sum game. You don't have to have one fail to have another one have success. Atom knows this. They are willing to promote and help new TLDs because it only adds to the pie 🧠

Another solid five-figure close! 💰 bin.si just sold for $10,000 on Sedo.

You dismissed .ai, then top ticked it in the bull run. Now you're dismissing .si because of your .ai bags. You don't have a thesis. You have a reaction function.

🤣 Only a salty hater would find the delta more interesting than the six-figure sale itself.

In five, ten or twenty years, the domain landscape may look nothing like it does today. Imagine paying tomorrow's premium based on yesterday's assumptions.

Many of you trashed .ai early, only to go all in later. You're welcome to do the same with .si. Just don't expect your credibility to survive unscathed. #si #domains #superintelligence

A small step in the right direction from @Dynadot. Respect for moving quickly to bring these appraisals closer to market reality. Worth checking your .si appraisals to see what's changed.

@Dynadot is one of our top 3 registrars, but its valuation model is somehow worse than @atomHQ, just for a different reason. runtime.si sold for $28,888. Dynadot values it at $1,181. That's 4.1% of the actual sale price.

If we're going to nitpick, we'd still argue that $27K for staffing.si is far too low.

We lean heavily on semantics when valuing domains and trust our own models over anything we've seen from third parties. Outside of .si, we wouldn't dream of feeding our highest-conviction, thesis-driven names into third-party appraisal tools. We don't want that data sitting on someone else's infrastructure.

Let the market sort it out. Scared money doesn't make money. Nobody knows how high .si prices can go until holders of strong names start testing the ceiling. If nobody pushes, nobody discovers what buyers will pay. Some will overreach. That's price discovery.

somebody was out here yelling at everybody to raise their si prices and now too many dudes priced themselves out. ;-) im playing… but it is true these cats are leaning a little heavy on that dollar sign like this extension has twenty years of use and consistency.

We just ran an institutional valuation of the entire 1,281-domain SI Holdings portfolio (.si + one-word .ai + SI-era .com) using Gemini 4 Argon High. Why now: The .si market has entered a new phase — 469,531 domains registered (+171% YTD), 1,403 tracked .si sales ($2.30M+ volume), a new $84,000 all-time ceiling (chain.si), and 28+ venture-backed companies already live on .si (including a $1.02B unicorn). How it was modeled: Every asset was scored against 1,403 realized .si sales, 33,460 NameBio .ai sales (anchored by our own honey.ai $150,000 sale), 24-TLD registration saturation, live corporate usage on .com/.ai/.io, and our 5-model appraisal ensemble. What we found (1,281 domains): • Today: $10.26M end-user ($2.53M wholesale floor) • +1 Year: $14.26M • +2 Years: $19.22M • +5 Years: $30.01M Breakdown by collection (end-user today → 5Y): • 1,249 Premium .si (429 one-words, 434 LLL/NNN): $8.08M → $23.96M • 9 Category-Killer 1-Word .ai (deals.ai, coupons.ai, streaming.ai, bro.ai…): $1.75M → $4.35M Today, equivalent one-word .si names still clear at 10–25% of .ai prices. As the AI → SI transition compounds, that gap closes fast. Full report & methodology: siholdings.si/valuation/

A political backlash against .ai would be an unnecessary complication and frankly a bit stupid. There are stronger reasons for .si to gain traction. 1) It’s more descriptive of the stage we're rapidly heading towards. 2) For many names it simply sounds and brands better. 3) Startups may also use it to signal technological advancement and attract VC interest, as .ai did before it.
What if using .ai becomes a political liability for American startups? 😳 Imagine @realDonaldTrump brands .ai as a threat to America Would the public boycott these startups? I think some absolutely would. Especially patriotic Americans who put their flag, country and national interests first 🇺🇸
