We sold the domain ASI.inc for $90,000!
Interesting timing, with so much discussion around artificial intelligence → superintelligence (SI).
@DNJournal calls it the biggest .inc domain sale it has seen. Thanks Ron for including Ultra!

Thank you, I appreciate it. WHOIS is a super important tool but most don't understand what they are seeing and it's not clear if a domain is for sale, how to contact the owner, how old the domain is, expiry date doesn't mean it becomes available etc.

My two primary takeaways from the MJ.com deal are:
1. Investors shouldn’t have any say in when an asset is sold. They are investing in a premium asset and into the reputation of the asset manager. The asset manager should have zero influence or pressure from investors and only be driven by maximizing the yield on the asset, on behalf of its shareholders.
2. The only sensical way to do fractionalization is a basket of domains. All sorts of domains with ranging values. There should be a critical mass in the portfolio. That way there is constant turnover and returns, creating a more dynamic market and price action on the shares of teh portfolio that allow people to really make a market and earn a return on their investment along the way. This is probably best achieved through a structure similar to a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), but for domain names.
Doing it on a domain by domain basis is more like a bingo card. Hard to generate proof of concept and excitement in the market.
To all of the fellow shareholders in MJ.com on @OnRallyRd - the transaction is now complete. We all made money, I wish we made more, but more than 40% in under 24 months is still not a bad outcome.
Check your Rally account balance - you should have been paid.
Most importantly, we have proved @Berryhillj wrong! He can no longer say that nobody has made money from fractionalized domain names. In fact, quite a bit of money was made by all shareholders.
That said...he is right, as was @saylor, fractionalizing a pristine domain name asset is an encumbrance, not a value add.
My intention from the beginning was to democratize access to high value premium domain names to the masses. Turning this nascent but incredible investment niche into an institutional asset class.
But as I discovered, investing is best done by dictator, not by democracy!

I see that one of the premium one-word #domains at the upcoming #GoDaddyAuction is canteens•com. Well, I had to take this pic after spotting the singular version (a food service company) earlier this morning behind the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) making a delivery.
GoDaddy just announced its next premium auction. First time I'm selling names through this venue.
Here are the details:
