Ghana will continue to live. I have to decide to live, too. This is my final message of defiance and submission. This is my final message of resilience and tiredness. This is both a statement of defeat and victory.

Government of Ghana’s statement on the tragic killing of Javits Frimpong in the Bronx, New York. I have spoken to the father of Javits, Mr. Thomas Frimpong and directly conveyed the condolences of the Government and people of Ghana. On my instructions, officials of our Permanent Mission in New York have visited the family and coordinating with local authorities. The Foreign Ministry will work tirelessly with US authorities to ensure justice is secured. The family of Javits and his loved ones remain in our thoughts and prayers. May God grant his lovely soul a peaceful repose. For God and Country 🇬🇭 🙏🏾

I once attended the Bell Collective meeting at Harvard Law School. Two days later, a black American lady walked up to me. She expressed her surprise at the amount of information I had about black struggle in America and how I argued that those struggles continue to influence American imperial attitude toward Africa— putting the visa issues in context. To her, as an African, she didn't ordinarily expect me to have that much information about Black struggles; hence her surprise. Maybe Black and African people have a shared destiny we've failed to highlight over time. And both sides have drawn distinctions that sometimes make no material difference.

The State of Ghana bears some moral blame for the injustices its nationals face elsewhere, simply because Ghana has become a poorly governed country that crushes dreams and impoverishes many, compelling them to immigrate. We do injustice to ourselves by tolerating the kind of governance that the NPP and the NDC have overseen for so many years. Anyone who defends this state of affairs is your enemy. If you defend it yourself, you are on a suicidal path. I WISH YOU ALL, WELL

Sudan is in a serious humanitarian situation. Why can't African states intervene more forcefully?

One of the best Chief Justices in the history of the country. I contend.
Her Ladyship Justice (Mrs.) Georgina Theodora Wood (Rtd.), former Chief Justice, has arrived at Zoe, Akyea & Co. and is delivering the Welcome Address at “Earning the Brief. Earning the Appointment.” — the London Court of International Arbitration–YIAG conversation on building a career in arbitration. #233legal #law #YIAG #LCIA #Arbutration

GIMPA Law is doing something impressive by bringing in young academics. I cannot say the same for some other law school that still has old names on its course outlines.

Eii! I didn't have power for a few hours yesterday. Three days ago, I also didn't have light for about 8 hours.

The conscious person must take a back seat in an unjust society. She must, because she cannot comprehend how power can be so ignorant and inhumane, yet enjoy mass support. For her own safety, she must hide.

In a society where the concept of free speech is fully developed and understood, judges wouldn't feel comfortable openly threatening people for commenting on ongoing cases. But we've handed judges a non-democratic authority of contempt powers, and they keep abusing it. Free speech permits people to speak on any issue of public interest, whether it is a ministerial action, court cases, presidential decisions, or police investigations. There is no reason a court case should enjoy any special treatment that merits exclusion from public discourse. But in Ghana.….

Surrounded by racists and bullies isn't an easy experience. Every day you walk in that country, you make a big wager on life and death. Even in the so-called Ivy League schools, racism comes searching for the black-skinned person. One reason I felt we must do everything for Africa to succeed. For our home countries to succeed. We must!!

I have decided to ignore a lot of people lately because, on social media, everyone feels the need to weigh in on subjects they are less educated on, lack expertise in, and haven't taken the time to read widely about. You are close to wasting your time trying to engage such people. They most likely lack the basic knowledge to engage in any worthwhile conversation.

I support students at the University of Ghana who are willing and committed to exercising their freedom of assembly and protest. The university's internal rules violate their fundamental freedom to assemble and demonstrate. In no proper university should such backward and claw-back clauses be drawn up to undermine dissent, protest, and expression of views. The University of Ghana is old enough to get simple human-rights issues right.
