𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼! Indigenous seeds are built for our soils, our climates and our cultures. Saving, sharing and selling these seeds should never be criminalised. But do the existing and emerging seed laws in East Africa uphold these rights? What does the AU Policy on Farmer-Managed Seed Systems mean for the region? Who owns the seed, owns the harvest 🌽 About 90% of the seed Africa’s smallholder farmers plant comes from their own hands, saved and shared, not bought 🫘. In Ezulwini, AU ministers finally recognised these farmer-managed seed systems. But a promise on paper feeds no one. Will East Africa’s seed laws protect farmers, or punish them for sharing seed? ⚖️ Join CEFROHT, SWISSAID and ESAFF Uganda 👇 📅 Wed, 4 Nov 2026 ⏰ 2:00 to 4:00 PM EAT 💻 Register: teams.microsoft.com/meet/366… #SeedSovereignty #FarmerSeeds #RightToFood #CefrohtUG

Yesterday, Melbourne opened its doors to justice leaders from around the world under one theme: Evidence and Action ⚖️ CEFROHT is in the room 🇺🇬 Day 1 spoke our language: community legal empowerment with practitioners from Africa, access to justice in a changing climate, and justice “where people live” 🌍 That is our daily work too. Through our Legal Aid Clinic, a widow fighting for the land that feeds her family can still get a lawyer. So tell us: what would justice look like in your community? 👇 #IA2J2026 #AccessToJustice #RightToFood #CefrohtUG

What does a litre of diesel have to do with your supper? Everything ⛽🍲 Diesel now costs over Shs 7,000 in some markets, with an extra Shs 200 tax since July. That cost rides the truck all the way to your plate 🚚 Beans, milk, cassava and sweet potatoes led September’s price rises, the very foods that keep a diet healthy 🫘🥛 Our new issues paper unpacks what this means for the right to food, and what the Government must do 👇 Get your free copy here: cefroht.org/wp-content/uploa… #RightToFood #CostOfLiving #CefrohtUG

🚨#HappeningNow Who decides when a snack is “too sweet” or “too salty” for East Africa? 🤔 Right now, that rule is being written. The East African Community is drafting a regional Nutrient Profile Model, the science that sets limits for sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats in packaged food 🍪🧂 Today, Uganda is in the room giving its comments, bringing the lessons of our own national NPM to the table 🇺🇬 Get this right, and over 300 million East Africans could one day see the truth on the front of every pack 🏷️ Stay with us 👇 #EACNPM #FOPWL #RightToFood #CefrohtUG

Happy World Food Day! 🌱 But here’s a hard question for today: do you know what’s really inside the food on your plate? 🤔 Our Executive Director, Dr. Kabanda David, puts it plainly in this video: “We have many people who are silently dying because of the food they are eating or the food they are exposed to.” Non-communicable diseases now cause about 33% of deaths in Uganda 💔. Yet our labels still hide sugar, salt, and fat in tiny print. This World Food Day, we ask the Government to pass Front-of-Pack Warning Labels. Knowing what you eat is your right ⚖️🏷️ #WorldFoodDay #FOPWL #RightToFood #CefrohtUG

DIALOGUE PICTORIAL📸 By the end of 2023, Uganda had 115 registered pesticide active ingredients, 55 of which were classified as Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs). Of the 669 registered pesticide brands, 459 were also classified as highly hazardous. Dr. @davidkabanda, in his closing remarks, was cautious and straightforward with the groups that lead the production and importation of Highly Hazardous Pesticides HPPs, mutagens and carcinogens, He vowed strong resistance to them and offered to fight them both in local and international courts. For politicians who take and protect these criminals, they were bound for the same end: death as a result of these products, and if we don't fight together, the country is in tough times.
