The Russians launched a drone attack on a train platform in Dnipro. 🕯️The Embassy expresses its heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families.
A horrific Russian strike on the railway station in Dnipro. The Russians launched a drone attack on a platform where an ordinary commuter train and a scheduled passenger train were standing. Unfortunately, 13 people have been confirmed killed as of now. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Ten more people were injured. All necessary emergency services are working at the scene. Just how many terrorist strikes has Russia carried out against our people since sanctions were lifted on certain Russian oligarchs and the Russian energy sector, rather than de-escalating? This is precisely why Ukraine has always said that just and decisive action by America and Europe is needed in response to Russian escalation – sanctions against Moscow and its war machine must not be eased for as long as this Russian war continues. It is time for new, stronger sanctions steps by the EU, the United States, and the G7. I thank everyone who is ready to help in this way.

Thank you for the good call, @KoretskyiUA. 🇪🇪🇺🇦 Ukraine must be strong, both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table. Estonia will keep up its military, financial and practical support, while pushing for more pressure on Russia. Aggression must not pay. Russia is trying to gain through terror what it cannot achieve on the battlefield. We will help Ukraine through another difficult winter. Together, we will bring our partners to Tallinn in January for the Ukraine Recovery Conference. Ukraine needs help today and investments for tomorrow.

Estonia and Ukraine are bringing partners together in Tallinn in January for the Ukraine Recovery Conference #UCR2027. 🇪🇪🤝🇺🇦
As Russia continues its daily attacks on Ukraine’s economy, energy and critical infrastructure, the Ukraine Recovery Conference #URC2027 in Tallinn on 28–29 January will shift its focus from recovery to resilience. The goal is to mobilise urgent international support, secure concrete financial commitments and deliver practical solutions to help Ukraine withstand this winter. War crimes, crimes against humanity and evidence of human trafficking. A new report by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine 🇺🇦, mandated by the @UN_HRC, documents all three. The Commission concluded that Russia committed war crimes by deliberately attacking civilian objects and crimes against humanity through systematic attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. As Estonia 🇪🇪 has consistently said, Russia is using cold and darkness to inflict suffering and break Ukrainians’ resistance. The Commission also found compelling evidence that Russian authorities trafficked men from 29 countries into their armed forces through deception and coercion. Many were killed or went missing after being sent to the front. We must strengthen Ukraine’s defences, increase pressure on Russia and hold those responsible accountable.
The @UN Commission of Inquiry on #Ukraine found in a new report that Russian authorities: ➡️ Committed crimes against humanity through attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure ➡️ Trafficked foreign nationals to fight in their armed forces in Ukraine. 👉 bit.ly/4BqJhff

Only increased pressure on Russia will make it take peace negotiations seriously. Every contact with Russia must convey Europe’s unity and determination to support Ukraine and maintain pressure on Russia, while making clear that Europe will not negotiate away the fundamental principles underpinning its security. Ukraine wants peace, and Estonia supports all efforts to achieve it. But there is no indication that Russia has changed its strategic objectives or is genuinely interested in negotiations. Russia’s goal is not merely to seize parts of Ukraine, but to subjugate the entire country and undermine Europe’s security order, founded on NATO and the EU. A just and lasting peace requires increased pressure on Russia, tighter sanctions, action against sanctions evasion, Russia’s international isolation and unwavering support for Ukraine. We must show Russia through concrete action that, as long as its war continues, pressure will remain strong and Ukraine’s supporters will not abandon it.

🇪🇪Estonian President @YlleMadise spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr @ZelenskyyUa 🇺🇦by phone. President Madise reaffirmed that Estonia supports Ukraine in every way—both now and in the future.
Had a phone call with President @ZelenskyyUa, I reassured Estonia’s firm support for #Ukraine and its people. We will keep helping Ukraine defend itself and join the #EU and #NATO. Ukraine’s security is our security and as so we can’t accept borders changed by force.

Just four weeks after restoring its independence in 1991, Estonia joined the @UN. 🇪🇪🇺🇳 For Estonia, the UN Charter stands for a fundamental principle: all states, large or small, are sovereign equals. No country's future should be decided by force. On #UNDay, we reaffirm our commitment to the UN and to upholding these principles in practice. @EstoniaUN

Europe must be part of efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine, but not as a neutral mediator between the aggressor and its victim. We stand with Ukraine. We must increase pressure on Russia, use its frozen assets to support Ukraine and remain united against the Kremlin’s attempts to divide our societies. I discussed Europe’s role in achieving a just peace in Ukraine and European security with @France24_en: youtube.com/watch?v=aAp6mPFH…

Ukrainian heroes are home! 🇺🇦
The third phase of the major prisoner exchange: 270 Ukrainian defenders are home! Among them are seriously ill and wounded soldiers, 86 convicted servicemen. Some spent 6–8 years in Russian captivity. ❗️All of this work is the result of several months of negotiations by the working group of the Coordination Headquarters on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, which includes the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine. The process is ongoing at the direction of the President of Ukraine. We will keep fighting for the return of every Ukrainian — including civilians and those held since 2014. Welcome home! Glory to Ukraine!

🇪🇪Estonia will provide a further €10 million in military support for Ukraine🇺🇦 through NATO’s #PURL initiative. The stronger Ukraine is, the less leverage Russia has to dictate the terms of peace.
Today, Estonia decided to contribute another €10 million through NATO’s PURL initiative, bringing our total contribution through this mechanism to €31 million. This will help Ukraine obtain urgently needed air defence and ammunition. This year, Estonia’s military assistance to Ukraine amounts to 0.28% of our GDP. Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have left hundreds of thousands without power. With winter approaching, this support is vital to protecting lives and keeping essential services running. The stronger Ukraine can defend itself, the less Russia can dictate the terms of peace. We must keep supporting Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia.

Three waves of ballistic missiles have been launched at Kyiv by Russian “humanitarians” since yesterday evening. They used 21 missiles. Unfortunately, numerous sites across the city have been hit and damaged: ordinary residential buildings, energy facilities, infrastructure at one of the railway stations and the metro, shopping malls, and businesses. Even a monastery is among the damaged sites. Our emergency services are working at all the affected locations. Twelve of our regions came under Russian attack overnight. In Kyiv and across the regions, 34 people were injured, including five children. As of now, two people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Almost immediately after another round of talks, Russia launched a pointed attack. This means there has been no real change in its attitude toward everything that is happening. It is important to keep trying to find the right solutions to end this war. But when Russia responds to negotiations with ballistic missiles, real pressure on Russia is needed to bring about different steps – steps toward ending the killing. Stronger air defenses and the rapid delivery of missiles, the ability to destroy ballistic missile launchers, sanctions over the war – all of this must be in place. I am grateful to everyone who sees the situation for what it is and acknowledges the reality. The aggressor deserves to be treated accordingly. Ukraine deserves support. People's lives deserve protection. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

🇪🇪Foreign Minister @Tsahkna held a telephone call with Ukrainian Foreign Minister @andrii_sybiha🇺🇦. They discussed the current state of peace negotiations, preparations for the #URC2027, the need to maintain pressure on Russia, and support for #Ukraine.
Thank you, dear friend @andrii_sybiha, for a productive call. We discussed Russia's relentless attacks on Ukrainian cities, progress towards a just and lasting peace, and preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Tallinn. Russia shows no signs of abandoning its imperial ambitions. Instead, it is escalating its campaign of terror. Since July, Russia has attacked more than 2,000 energy facilities, deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure and leaving hundreds of thousands of households without electricity. We must keep increasing pressure and deepening Russia's isolation until it changes course and is held fully accountable for every atrocity committed. As Ukraine prepares for another difficult winter, Estonia is stepping up its practical support. We are exploring additional ways to strengthen Ukraine's transport resilience, including through the delivery of locomotives. Estonia stands with Ukraine.
