Good summary. The comparison worth leading with is the active one: against people starting DPP-4 or SGLT2 inhibitors, hospitalisation HRs were 0.82 and 0.83, vs 0.76 against no new drug. Dulaglutide wasn't linked to lower risk at all. Observational, so residual confounding stays on the table, as the authors say. thelancet.com/journals/lanps… nitter.cf/AhmadRehanKhan/status/…
𝗚𝗟𝗣-𝟭 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗗𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗯𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗮 A major study in The Lancet Psychiatry (November 2026) suggests that GLP-1–based medications, including semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy), may be associated with fewer psychiatric hospitalizations and emergency visits among patients with schizophrenia. Researchers analyzed electronic health records of 70,257 adults across all 50 US states with schizophrenia and type 2 diabetes. Key Findings: Compared with patients who did not initiate GLP-1 therapy, those who started treatment had: - 24% lower relative hazard of psychiatric hospitalization. - 29% lower relative hazard of psychiatric emergency department visits. - Lower psychiatric acute-care use even when compared with patients starting other diabetes medications (DPP-4 and SGLT2 inhibitors). - Among patients taking antipsychotics, an estimated 1-year number needed to treat (NNT) of 32 to avert one psychiatric hospitalization or ED visit. This is an observational estimate, not proof of treatment benefit. - Favorable associations were particularly observed with semaglutide, liraglutide, and tirzepatide. Interestingly, the association was strongest among patients who lost weight, but was also present in some patients whose weight remained stable. This raises questions about potential effects beyond weight loss, including inflammation, insulin signaling, and brain pathways involved in dopamine regulation. My Take as a Psychiatrist: Patients with schizophrenia face a disproportionate burden of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and premature mortality, partly related to antipsychotic-associated metabolic complications. GLP-1 therapies already offer important metabolic benefits. The possibility that they may also be associated with improved psychiatric stability is particularly exciting. However, this was an observational study. It cannot establish causation, and differences in patient characteristics or health care access may partly explain the findings. GLP-1 medications are NOT established treatments for schizophrenia and should not replace antipsychotics. But these findings strengthen the case for integrating metabolic and psychiatric care rather than treating them as separate problems. "Treating metabolic disease in schizophrenia may have benefits extending far beyond blood sugar and body weight." Randomized controlled trials are the essential next step. Source: Davoodian N, et al. A third-party COA answers one question: what was in the sample that was sent. It doesn't tell you who chose that sample. Drug GMP rules deal with this by requiring representative samples of each incoming lot, sized by statistical criteria. The strongest testing is lot-matched, dated, and repeatable on a vial nobody hand-picked. ecfr.gov/current/title-21/ch…

Reordering shouldn't mean digging through old emails. In the ETHOS app you can track an order, reorder from your history, and pull the COA for each lot in the same place. US and UK each have their own app, same 8X-tested standard behind both. app.ethospeptideresearch.com

MOTS-c, Chen 2025 (Sci Rep): diet-induced diabetic rats, 10 per group, 8 weeks of MOTS-c, treadmill exercise, or both vs untreated diabetic rats. All three reduced liver collagen staining and ALT/AST, and MOTS-c alone looked comparable to exercise. Evidence level: one rat study plus liver-cell work. nature.com/articles/s41598-0…

The copper-5AR link is real, but it comes from an enzyme assay: Sugimoto 1995 expressed human 5α-reductase in SW-13 cells, and copper inhibited type I at an IC50 of 1.9 µM and type II at 19.2 µM. Those are test-system concentrations, not measured scalp levels. Whether ~0.3 mg of copper gets anywhere near them in a follicle is the open question. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7738… nitter.cf/HansAmato/status/21132…
MO, the only peptide you need for hair regrowth is GHK-cu. But, if you’re afraid GHK-Cu will lower your DHT, you should be terrified of liver and oysters. It’s the copper that inhibits 5AR, not the peptide. 2mg GHK-Cu: ~0.3mg copper 1 slice of liver: ~10mg copper 100g of oysters: ~7.6mg copper That’s 30x more copper from a bit of liver. And dietary copper doesn’t come close to the levels needed to block 5AR in your body.

Useful list, but each line is a different test answering a different question. "Metals below detection" says nothing about identity. "99.91% purity" says nothing about how many mg are in the vial. "4.7/5 mg" says nothing about purity. A fair brand comparison needs the same panel on every product, ideally across more than one lot. nitter.cf/oasishealthapp/status/…
Lab-tested GLP brands: - Eli Lilly Zepbound, listed via Ro: metals below detection - Umbrella Labs retatrutide: 4.7/5 mg labeled potency - Limitless Biotech semaglutide: metals below detection - Evolve Peptides semaglutide: 99.91% chromatographic purity - Prime Peptides semaglutide: 5.51 mg measured versus 5 mg labeled - Paramount Peptides semaglutide: over 100% potency - Coastal Peptides semaglutide: identity test failed - Peptide Gurus retatrutide: identity test failed For Lilly and Limitless, arsenic, cadmium and lead were below 0.01 µg/g; mercury was below 0.005 µg/g Specific samples from 2025–2026, not a safety ranking. This week's headlines are about where grey-market powder comes from. Fair question to ask any supplier. At ETHOS UK the answer is on paper: every batch is 8X tested before it ships, and its COA is searchable by lot number in the app, so you can match the vial to the paperwork. Tesamorelin, Falutz 2007 (NEJM): phase 3 RCT, 412 people with HIV and abdominal fat accumulation, 26 weeks. Visceral fat on CT fell 15.2% vs a 5.0% rise on placebo. That's the evidence behind its one FDA-approved use, HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Strong data, narrow population. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1805…

The data behind this, from TRM Labs: of 150+ Chinese chemical makers taking crypto, roughly 75% list both fentanyl precursors and peptides, and payments to confirmed dual sellers rose from $28.2M in 2023 to $37.3M in 2025. TRM says it can't split those payments by product. Either way, no lot-matched third-party COA means no traceable origin. trmlabs.com/resources/blog/a… nitter.cf/Newsforce/status/21130…
🇺🇸 Chinese chemical companies linked to fentanyl production are now selling black-market “looksmaxxing” peptides to Americans. Some suppliers are marketing unapproved substances for weight loss, muscle growth, and improving physical appearance. The FDA has warned about the dangers of unapproved injectable peptides, while blockchain researchers estimate the underground market has grown into a business exceeding $100 million annually.

Context on that trial: ACHIEVE-3 was open-label, in adults with type 2 diabetes on metformin, against oral semaglutide at its diabetes doses (7 and 14 mg). A1C was the primary endpoint (-2.2% vs -1.4% at the top doses); weight was secondary. A strong result, but it's a diabetes trial, not an obesity one. investor.lilly.com/news-rele… nitter.cf/maxmarchione/status/21…
The next generation of GLP-1 drugs might not even be peptides. Lilly's orforglipron is a non-peptide pill that activates the GLP-1 receptor. In 1,698 people, it led to 9.2% weight loss vs. 5.3% with oral semaglutide at 52 weeks. And unlike oral semaglutide, it can be taken without fasting.

That's Lee & Padgett 2021: a retrospective chart review at one clinic. 16 patients were reached by phone, mostly 6 to 12 months after injection, and asked about their knee pain. No control group, no imaging, self-reported. 14 of 16 reporting relief is a reason to run a controlled trial, not a recovery rate. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3432… nitter.cf/oxidativestate/status/…
We will continue to get more and more human data about BPC-157. In this study 16 human patients with knee pain got BPC-157 injection, the recovery rates on BPC are as you probably expect.

Worth knowing which number that is. 28.3% is Lilly's efficacy estimand: the result had everyone stayed on drug. Counting everyone randomized, whether they stopped or not, 12 mg came in at -25.0% vs -3.9% on placebo. Still a very large effect, just the more conservative read. investor.lilly.com/news-rele… nitter.cf/Medscape/status/211289…
The pivotal TRIUMPH-1 trial demonstrated an average weight loss of 28.3% of body weight at 80 weeks with the highest studied dose of retatrutide, reaching levels historically associated with bariatric surgery. However, as these potent therapies advance toward potential regulatory review, obesity medicine specialists face an emerging clinical reality: Many prospective candidates will not be starting treatment from scratch. Many may arrive to retatrutide therapy having already optimized semaglutide or tirzepatide. Some may be facing the challenge that clinicians are increasingly describing — the GLP-1 plateau. mdsc.pe/4eJ7Nyh

SLU-PP-332 is a small-molecule ERR agonist, not a peptide. Billon 2023: sedentary mice given it for 7 days ran ~70% longer and ~45% farther to exhaustion than vehicle mice, and mice lacking muscle ERRα didn't respond. Evidence level: mouse only, one research group. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/article…

Worth reading the method: NSW counted ED visits where triage notes mentioned a peptide keyword, so these are presentations rather than people, and a mention isn't a confirmed cause. Even so, 18% ended in admission, and 833 of 1,180 mentioned retatrutide only. The report can't say what was actually in the vials. health.nsw.gov.au/epidemiolo… nitter.cf/aminoaiapp/status/2112…

Context worth adding: the recall is Apothecary Pharma's compounded tirzepatide, for "lack of assurance of sterility." That means the process can't be vouched for, not that every vial was contaminated. FDA's May 2025 inspection there noted operators with exposed skin and gloved hands over open vials during sterile filling. fda.gov/media/186741/downloa… nitter.cf/afshineemrani/status/2…
There is now a National recall of GLP-1 drug (tirzepatide) made by a US compounding pharmacy because it puts patients at risk! Please be careful! Tell your children who maybe taking these without your knowledge.

What does FDA expect for a generic peptide? Its July 2026 draft guidance for liraglutide says report every related impurity above 0.1% of the drug substance, and identify every one above 0.5%. That's the bar for an approved product. A single "99% pure" number doesn't tell you what the other 1% is. accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfd…

Good mouse biology, worth reading as that. Mice lacking GLP-1R, GLP-2R or gut proglucagon took more intestinal damage after T cell activation, and semaglutide or teduglutide, alone or together, reduced it in the proglucagon knockouts. Acute antibody-induced model, male mice, no human samples: a case for trials, not a result in people yet. cell.com/cell-reports-medici… nitter.cf/EricTopol/status/21125…
