Teaching in a Nigerian secondary school is an extreme sport. 😭 I caught one JSS 2 boy skipping classes and told him he must bring his father to school the next day before he can enter my class. This small boy looked me dead in the eye and said, "No problem, Ma."
The next morning, he marched into the staff room with a very serious man wearing an oversized suit. The man started acting like a strict father, apologizing deeply for his "son's" behavior and promising to discipline him at home. I was nodding along until I looked at the man's face properly.
My people, the "father" was the exact same Okada man that drops me at the school gate every morning! 💀 This boy had paid my bike man ₦1,000 to wear a suit and pretend to be his dad. When the bike man finally recognized me, he just shouted "Aunty Teacher!" and ran away! 😭😭

Yes, @MTNNG resells people's SIM cards.
They sold one to me and I've been complaining about strange numbers calling me. It's a newly registered SIM with my NIN that I only use for data, yet different people keep calling me on different occasions.
The SIM was even registered on Truecaller with a different name. How is that possible?
I traveled out of Nigeria with my MTN SIM card that I registered in my name and with my details.
I later misplaced the sim in the other country. (outside Nigeria)
Few days ago someone tried calling me directly on that line and he said a lady picked the call.
Yesterday again someone else tried calling me on that same line directly but a woman picked again.
Is it that @MTNNG resells registered SIM cards that has been inactive for a while to new users?
If yes is the answer, what happens when this new user commits a crime with the SIM card that was registered in my name and with my details?
I think the whole selling of recycled lines is a bad idea to begin with. The "new buyer" and the "old user" can both land in serious trouble with too many stories that touch.

A lady was arrested because according to the police she had an involvement with kidnapping.
She bought a new airtel SIM, the SIM was recycled, she re registered the SIM again and started using it and that was the beginning of her problem
A year later she arrested because the line had link with kidnappers before she bought the SIM.
So yes, if the old user commit a crime the new user might pay for it.

BREAKING: The Federal Government Announces a 30-Day Discount on Petrol Through NNPC stations
“We are offering a discount on petrol dispensed by NNPC limited for the next 30 days in the first instance with priority for public transporters nationwide. So, it’s not a subsidy, government is just saying we sell to you at cost.”
- Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele

Oyedele: We are introducing price modulation, with a ₦1,350 per litre ceiling that is neither a subsidy nor price control
We are introducing price modulation. Government is negotiating a ceiling of ₦1,350 per litre on the ex-gantry or landing cost of petrol to keep the price stable. When costs rise above the ceiling, refineries and importers will carry the shortfall and recover it later. This is neither a subsidy nor price control.

Lol. The original fuel subsidy was introduced as a temporary "price stabilisation" meant to last only 6 months to shield Nigerian consumers from the oil price shock from the 1973 Arab Israeli war by Gowon in the early 70s.
History repeats itself, as a farce.

The government says Dangote cannot sell petrol above ₦1,350, even when the landing cost is higher, so he will bear the difference for now. The expectation is that he will recover this loss later by keeping prices high even after global crude prices fall.
This raises two questions:
1. How long will Dangote keep prices high once global crude prices drop?
2. How will we know when he has recovered his losses, and who will confirm it so that prices return to the global benchmark?
Without a clear mechanism, a temporary cap could turn into a permanent high price.

Oyedele says it's not a subsidy. "We sell to you at cost."
Then he says: "When costs rise above the ceiling, refineries and importers will carry the shortfall and recover it later."
So the refineries bear it now. You bear it later. The government bears nothing.
That's not a discount. That's a loan you didn't ask for.

Humans and baboons have some striking similarities because we are all primates. However, humans are much more closely related to chimpanzees and bonobos than we are to baboons.
What is fascinating is how much some of their behaviour can resemble ours.
Baboons can clap, play, groom one another, communicate through sounds and gestures, protect their young, form social bonds, show affection and aggression, and even appear to tease one another.
So when you watch a baboon and suddenly think, “This animal behaves like a human,” you’re not imagining it. 😁
Some of these behaviours reflect similarities in the way social primates interact with one another.
And perhaps that is what makes humans so fascinating: we are not the biggest animals on Earth, but we are one of the most behaviourally complex.
