ILL Tax Bill on Sports Bets: FIRE EVERYONE who wrote it.
States currently pay a .25% Federal Sports Betting Tax (the Sports Books pay it).
Illinois is going to charge an additional State Tax of .25 per bet, increasing to .50 per bet after 20mm bets are made in State.
This is beyond stupid.
1) If the Book pays this, a bettor could make a million tiny $1 bets and cost the book 250k-500k, LOL.
2a) If the bettor pays this, it is a HUGE tax on the lowest bettors (the poor in most cases).
2b) And the kiosk bets will require nonstop payouts of amounts in quarters/.50s
3) What tax DOUBLES on anything during the latter part of a year?
4) Why wouldn't you just "copy" the tax structure of the Federal Tax, THERE IS A REASON it is structured that way.
@beatingthebook had a dream 2 night ago about a 5 leg parlay. It was odd cause I rarely bet parlays. Woke up at 6am and drove from Missouri to Illinois to place it. The first 4 legs hit yesterday and I now am the owner of a Scottie PGA Champion ticket at +2901 💪😬
