One Helluva Ride is being hyped as a sexaholics memoir. Fair enough. Sex sells. If you want to read another passionate life-story pick up a copy of my James Elroy biography Love Me Fierce in Danger. I talked to the women in Ellroy's life, so you hear their side of the story.

The fictional Joan, from my novel NAMASTE MART CONFIDENTIAL, published by @RunAmokCrime, was inspired Jenette Goldstein. I used to work with her son, who told me he saw a YouTube mashup when he was really young of all the times his mom got killed in movies and thought this one was her best death scene
Jenette Goldstein’s gymnastics background played a major role in making this unforgettable stunt look effortless. Her natural athleticism brought fluidity and precision to the scene, but pulling it off required careful preparation, flawless timing, and coordination from the stunt crew. During the explosive diving-board sequence, the crew reportedly used a pressure-sensitive pad to trigger the blast the instant her feet left the board. This perfectly timed practical effect created the illusion of a seamless explosion, making the moment even more thrilling on screen. The scene highlights how Hollywood combines real athletic ability with clever filmmaking techniques. What appears to be a simple stunt often requires extensive planning and teamwork behind the scenes. Sometimes, the most impressive movie moments aren’t just about massive explosions, but the incredible precision and skill that make them look effortless.

Delighted with the interest Peter Greenaway's work still generates. In an age of cultural monotony we need artists who take risks more than ever, and it is a crime that we have been denied the chance to see the last two films directed by Greenaway.
Peter Greenaway's latest film is stuck in post-production hell. This article is a good overview of the film's seemingly intractable problems. It fails to mention though that Greenaway's previous film Walking to Paris is stuck in exactly the same quagmire: theguardian.com/film/2026/oc…
