It’s kind of funny thinking back to being a Highschool nerd loving Final Fantasy for its tragic romantic plot lines and encouraged that girls and theater kids liked it too.
Now girls and theater kids dominate our media and video games but somehow they are devoid of the kind of tragic romances I remember. Now culture is just those groups talking about themselves.

I am a Buddhist, but I attended a Catholic school, so we had prayer time every morning and again before we went home. Even now, I can still recite the prayers from memory.
A senior from my school recently gave birth. When the labor pains became intense, she was so terrified that, in the brief moments she could catch her breath, she said “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen” and recited the prayers.
She is not a Christian. Years have passed since she graduated, yet the words came out of her mouth naturally.
Perhaps the power of prayer is something we understand not in the days when we are simply reciting it, but only when the day finally comes that we truly need it.

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.
