It kills me that he frames Kimi as having “enormous potential” while George has “speed, experience and leadership”. reading this you wouldn’t guess which had a top 3 junior career of the current grid. Wolff spent years wasting George’s potential and downplays it now. tragic, tbh

Mind you George didn’t have a good car in 2025 either. He had overheating tyres, brake issues, electrical problems, balance problems and a suspension upgrade that Mercedes spent months trying to figure out yet he finished ALL 24 races. And now he’s driving a so called winning car with 131 problems, 58 of them technical and got 3 mechanical DNFs

The more he speaks about "proving everyone wrong with Kimi", especially in regards to money/sponsors, the less I think George's issues are a coincidence
🚨 Toto Wolff reveals TWO sponsors left Mercedes over the decision to replace Lewis Hamilton with Kimi Antonelli!
“We had two sponsors leave us because of that. They asked me: ‘Kimi Antonelli? Who is this kid?’”
“Others stayed with us, and now they’re reaping the rewards.”
One year later, Kimi Antonelli is Formula 1 World Champion. 🏆

the concept that you need a functioning car to be able to functionally drive it is very complicated for many f1 fans

Replying to @GeorgeRussell63
George, you have all of the qualities it takes to meet your dreams. But this year was not your year for many reasons outside of purely your driving skills. Many of us who enjoy and understand the sport of Formula One can see that.
Arguably the two most exciting pieces of on-track action this year involved you. Battling with Kimi at Canada, where alas your car gave out as you were leading and holding off Max at Baku, taking the win after consistent pressure.
Take heart, whenever the Red Bull demonstrated winning pace, you were the only driver able to hold Max off when he had arguably the faster package. Take courage in that, when the tough mindset is necessary, you have all of the elements it requires to win.
Sometimes the car or other factors blur what other more fickle fans may perceive, but those fans that know and understand the politics of the sport will always support you, share every minute of the ups, downs and frustrations. In the end, this makes the champagne of victory, even sweeter.
Now relax, refocus and enjoy the driving, faith in yourself and let the chips fall where they may.

No hace nada mal. No depende de él. ¿Cómo evaluamos pilotos entonces?
I’m sorry but I cannot stand Antonelli, his family, Wolff, or anyone at Merc who continues to associate with the same Sky Italia commentators who wished, live on air, for George and Liam to crash in Madrid. That video of Wolff celebrating with them is disgusting & unforgivable
Saranno contenti Russell e Lawson di sapere che Vanzini sperava in un grosso incidente tra di loro per avere una bandiera rossa a favore del predestinato.

sky italia spent months undermining george russell and now toto wolff is celebrating with them like they haven’t spent the season tearing him down… wow the hypocrisy is fucking unbelievable. don’t tell me george is treated as an equal at mercedes

The most frustrating thing about how @MercedesAMGF1 has dealt with @GeorgeRussell63’s car issues this season, specifically regarding the deployment and derating issues, is that in a straight line, it becomes a driver safety issue.
While George has had plenty of underlying issues with his PU’s and SOC this season mostly subtle and not obvious to the naked eye, the most flagrant occurrences in Belgium and Mexico have resulted in him being involved in contact/accidents with another car, being placed in a position he should’ve never found himself if the car was properly working.
That is what the team, Toto, Shov, Marcus, Bono, etc. have to really swallow and accept and live with. I hope they don’t step wrong next year. The sense of urgency and duty of care should be foundational for driver safety concerns, and ideally extend to equal cars and strategies and reliability in both garages.
George simply must demand more from the people charged with his safety and success.

Finally a good article!
"Underrated, professional and off the track a likeable guy, Russell has the qualities to become an F1 world champion and he knows it. This season he was simply not given the opportunity to fight for it."
Every time the team apologizes to George, I just wonder if they mean to actually do something about it for next year. Are they satisfied now that they’ve ruined every chance he’s had this time, is that enough? Or will they do it again? Real change is needed, not empty words.

“he should’ve stayed to celebrate with him” you all are dense and lack empathy, plus the other guy never showed up for him anyway, didn’t even congratulate the grand slam so yeah! I think he can fuck off if he wants
