Today, we officially signed a landmark partnership agreement with Sterling Bank!
Sterling Bank is committing ₦60 million in prizes for the 2027 South East Mathematics & Science Olympiad.
In addition, the bank is committing ₦24 million to our National Mathematics Quiz, where outstanding students will receive ₦1 million in prizes every month.
But it gets even better!
Our star students will now have access to internship opportunities at Sterling Bank, while winners of the South East Mathematics & Science Olympiad will receive an additional one-year scholarship.
What a bank! What a commitment to the future of Nigerian children!
We will continue to double down on our efforts to build the greatest workforce in Africa by 2036.
We are deliberately investing in the next generation of mathematicians, scientists, engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers.
And I have just one request for everyone reading this:
Open an account with Sterling Bank. Encourage your family members, friends, and colleagues to bank with Sterling.
When a bank makes this level of commitment to the education and future of our children, it deserves our support.
This is the kind of corporate investment that can transform a generation.
Sterling Bank is not just banking on Nigerians. It is investing in the future of Nigeria.
Thank you, Sterling Bank. Our children will remember this investment.

HOW MUCH MORE DEBT CAN NIGERIA CARRY?
President Bola Tinubu’s request for approval to borrow $20.52 billion and €1.045 billion raises urgent questions about Nigeria’s debt burden and the future we are mortgaging for the next generation.
Nigeria’s external debt rose from $43.16 billion in June 2023 to $54.52 billion in June 2026—an increase of $11.36 billion, or 26.3%. Total public debt also rose from ₦87.38 trillion to ₦166.79 trillion over the same period, an increase of approximately 90.9%.
Adding the latest loan request and previously approved but undrawn financing suggests potential external debt exposure of about $81.96 billion, assuming no overlap and that all the financing is eventually drawn. This is an illustrative estimate, not official debt outstanding.
The government says the new loans will fund critical development projects. But Nigerians deserve to know precisely what these loans will deliver. Which roads have been completed? Which hospitals are operational? Which power projects have increased electricity supply? Where are the measurable benefits for businesses and households struggling with the cost of living?
If government revenues are increasing, why does the need for additional borrowing remain so substantial? And why seek more loans when lawmakers have raised concerns about inadequate capital releases to ministries, departments and agencies under previous budgets?
Before approving further borrowing, the President and the National Assembly must demand full transparency. Government should publish a project-by-project register of external loans since May 2023, detailing the amounts borrowed and disbursed, loan terms, project locations, implementation status and independently verified outcomes. Nigerians also deserve a clear assessment of future debt-service obligations and the risks posed by exchange-rate movements.
Borrowing can support national development, but only when investments deliver measurable benefits and repayment remains sustainable. The question is not simply how much Nigeria can borrow, but what Nigerians are getting in return.
The National Assembly must subject these requests to rigorous scrutiny and ensure that the public receives clear answers before the country assumes further obligations.
Let’s build the Nigeria we want together, a Nigeria that works.
Signed

Today, while speaking to some party officials, I made reference to the inauguration of our National Campaign Council and reiterated my full support for Mr. Ibrahim Abdulkarim as Director-General of the NDC National Campaign Council.
He is young and may not have held political office in Nigeria before. In fact, that is precisely why he has been given this appointment. We must create opportunities for young Nigerians to learn, serve, demonstrate their capacity and grow into leadership, and Nigerian youths CAN.
The NDC is a youth and women-friendly party and a party of the common people. We are building a coalition of ordinary Nigerians to stand together against oppression and work towards a better future for our country.
I have directed all NDC state chairmen and party officials to give the Director-General and all members of the Campaign Council maximum support. All candidates must equally receive the full support of party members, stakeholders, support groups and NGOs in mobilisation, election preparations, canvassing for votes and protecting the votes cast by Nigerians.
Nigerian youths and women must take ownership of the NDC and its mission, actively participate in its growth and lead the collective effort to build a better Nigeria.
We are aware of the interest expressed by party members, leaders and stakeholders in serving on the National Campaign Council. So far, we have inaugurated only its top leadership. The committees, directorates and coordinating teams at the state, local government and ward levels are being compiled to ensure broad participation in our grassroots mobilisation and campaign activities.
Together, let us build a people-driven party that gives every Nigerian, especially our youths and women, a stake in the future of our country.
NDC all the way!
