Over 240 people joined us for Somerset Prepared: Community Resilience Day last week to learn about emergency planning and resilience. Thank you to everyone who came along! 👏
🚧 Seaford beach work starts Fri 30 Oct.
We will clear shingle from the promenade until Tue 3 Nov, then start moving shingle on the beach from Wed 4 Nov.
➡️ The beach stays open. Keep clear of machinery.
The Floodmobile is coming to Dorchester Market, Weymouth Avenue, on 11 November, 8am-3pm.
➡️ See hands-on demonstrations of flood resilience measures, from flood barriers to toilet bungs, and get advice on protecting your home.
EA & @DorsetCouncilUK staff will be there to help.
1/3 Storm Austen has left the West Country but drought hasn’t. The rain has brought some relief to the environment but it is temporary, with river levels and flows expected to decrease again once water passes through the system.
2/3 With a greater reliance on the environment for water comes a need for greater vigilance. We have stepped up our monitoring in vulnerable locations like Sutton Bingham, Somerset (pictured) and remain ready to help fish in distress.
3/3 Help us by supporting the Let’s Save Water campaign because every drop of water we save will help the environment it came from: letssavewater.com/
