Starting a technical reading group on biostasis.
Anchored by the new Fahy et al. preprint on whole brain vitrification with human data.
Looking for 4 people who:
→ Have a technical background (bio, engineering, physics, etc.)
→ Want to actually work on biostasis problems, not just learn about them
→ Can commit to ~60 min/week for 6-8 weeks
5 people total, weekly Zoom sessions, working through foundational + frontier biostasis papers.

“… whenever you need motivation, visit a hospital and see some patients. A few encounters and you will be happy to spend weekends working on a solution.” ❤️
The only company we should all learn from in drug discovery is @SpaceX. The only measure of productivity in space is the number of launches to orbit and beyond. In our biotech world, the orbit is PCC. Whoever launches the most and learns to improve and iterate with every launch and develop the next Starship while still improving the workhorse Falcon will win. We nominated 28 PCCs in the past 5 years with 12 reaching clinical stage and 10+ BD deals. Part of this success is AI and automation but most of it is operational and organizational excellence. Read the story by @brittanytrang in @statnews and let's launch more drugs🚀📈
Another lesson I learned but not from SpaceX - whenever you need motivation, visit a hospital and see some patients. A few encounters and you will be happy to spend weekends working on a solution.

biostasis is the bridge between humanity and the stars
space is vast
space is hostile
space travel is resource intensive
we're launching the space biostasis coalition (@spacebiostasis) to mobilize $1B into frontier biostasis research and engineer human cryosleep

What if that something is a way to not die?
Join us Feb 17, 9AM PT with @emilkendziorra on how he founded Tomorrow Biostasis, and why cryopreservation might be the most underrated bet in longevity.

🧵1/ LBF7 Spain is happening and we're doing something kinda wild:
-We’re gathering the smartest people who want to SOLVE AGING
-going to a longevity resort in the Spanish mountains
-to learn, discuss and ACTUALLY BUILD stuff for 7 days straight
Here’s what we’re cooking 👇

1/ We’re beyond excited to have Bryan Johnson @bryan_johnson speak live at Vitalist Bay, Berkeley! 🌊
He spends $2M/year reversing his biological age, with the heart health of a 37-year-old and the lung performance of an 18-year-old.
His mission? To make aging optional—here’s how he’s doing it 👇

It’s a no-brainer: politicians who back healthier and longer lives for their constituents deserve reciprocal support from voters. LongeviPAC is the organization making that connection happen.
🌟 Exciting News for the Future of Health and Longevity! 🌟
We’re thrilled to officially announce the launch of LongeviPAC — the first political action committee dedicated to advancing pro-longevity policies in the United States! 🚀

Ever wonder what the bioelectric patterns of mortal vs. immortal animals look like? Or how resting potential gradients look in Hydra? Here's a preprint @SteffiKapsetaki

Denis Noble: "I think it's been unfortunate that philosophy and science have diverged."
Why reductionist analysis in biology is a philosophical mistake:
@drmichaellevin to Denis Noble: What have you learned from eastern philosophy that has informed your interest in biology?
Denis Noble: There is no philosophical basis for saying that the only way to look at living organisms is through reductionist analysis. It is also a philosophical point that you cannot have living organisms without levels of interactions. (paraphrased snippets)
