The Government’s newly announced Warm Homes Plan sets out a new approach to fixing Britain’s coldest homes. With £15 billion committed, the plan focuses on helping households cut energy waste and reduce their reliance on expensive gas, through a mix of insulation, clean heating and home-grown power. ✅ Large-scale home upgrades over the rest of the decade ✅ Targeted, fully funded support for low-income and fuel-poor households ✅ Support for insulation, heat pumps, solar and other energy-saving measures ✅ New protections and standards to improve quality and consumer confidence This is a rescue mission with long-term impact: warmer homes, lower bills, an end to our reliance on volatile fossil fuel pricing, and a fairer energy system that works for people. #EndFuelPoverty #WarmHomesPlan

"It does not seem too much to ask that, in return, [banks] put a fraction of that sum behind supporting the local, mutual lenders that help to keep the loan sharks at bay." Excellent coverage of the #FairBankingForAll Campaign in the Guardian. theguardian.com/politics/202…

This is a stepping stone, not the final say, on how to address the structural drivers of the poverty premium and financial exclusion. We would like to support the ensuing work on inclusive design so that it is seen as a way to prevent financial exclusion, not just respond to it.
Today marks the launch of the Financial Inclusion Strategy. The Strategy must be seen as a stepping stone that sets the direction of travel to ending the poverty premium and financial exclusion. Read our full statement here: fairbydesign.com/response-uk…

We welcome Ofgem's proposal for low standing charge deals but this does not address the affordability crisis. With the weather getting colder, we need an energy social tariff to lift people out of fuel poverty. Read our full statement: independentage.org/news-medi…

It's striking to see new analysis published by @TheFCA today, which shows that some providers earn much more money than it costs to provide premium finance in motor and home insurance. Our response - new position paper 👇 fairbydesign.com/paper-drivi…
Today @TheFCA has published new analysis on the motor insurance market which shows many of the factors that have increased the cost of car insurance are outside of consumers’ control. Here is the response of our Director, Rebecca Deegan @BexD1987.

People on low incomes often pay more to borrow. Without affordable credit, many turn to high-cost lenders & spiral into debt. @FairByDesign's new briefing backs a #FairBankingAct to expand access to affordable credit. @FBfACampaign #FairBankingForAll bit.ly/4lpExxQ

Life costs more for disabled people. And the costs are rising 📈 In 2025, disabled households would need an extra £1,095 per month to have the same standard of living as non-disabled households. This is called the #DisabilityPriceTag 💷

Drivers are saving up to £200 just by haggling with their insurer. Our new survey shows the scale of savings and asks why fair pricing isn’t offered upfront. The @TheFCA must examine this in its motor insurance review. #EndTheInsuranceRipOff which.co.uk/news/article/how…

❗ 86% of low-income households on Universal Credit are going without essentials. We’re in Parliament with @TrussellUK and hundreds of people to talk to MPs and call for change. Our social security system should, at the very least, ensure everyone can afford the essentials.
