Canada has every right to protect its people from genuine security threats.
But an individual who was forced into compulsory service and performed routine duties should not automatically be treated like someone who voluntarily participated in wrongdoing.
Real security screening should examine individual actions, responsibilities, knowledge, and circumstances.
