Sur les 5 800 prisonniers détenus en Russie pour motifs politiques, condamnés à des peines allant jusqu'à 28 ans de prison, des centaines sont dans des conditions de santé déplorables et leurs vies sont en danger.
Parmi eux, Maria Ponomarenko journaliste condamnée pour avoir dénoncé les bombardements russes sur le théâtre de Marioupol et enfermée depuis janvier 2023.
En détention, elle a fait plusieurs tentatives de suicide et son état psychique est critique. Ses deux enfants mineurs attendent leur mère.
Je suis honorée de l'avoir parrainée dans le cadre du programme de soutien aux prisonniers politiques russes. Nous devons faire tout notre possible pour qu'elle ne soit pas oubliée et qu'un jour elle puisse retrouver la liberté, ses enfants et son foyer.
