Film budgets are treated as critical information, yet (as @StephenFollows has flagged) the public data has been in freefall for years. Ironically, the numbers have never been more accessible, if you know where to look. I'm trying to pull back the curtain filmfoia.substack.com/p/nobo…

Nielsen's change mean's they're posting public results 11 days (vs 25 days) after the measured week ends.
As part of this same change, they're providing their subscribers *next day* data, so expect to see a lot more streaming show PR going forward from everybody.

I think everyone is aware that offense is up across MiLB.
I don't think most are aware of how much it is up.
It's the highest run environment since the current MiLB system was formed in 1963. It's higher than any MLB season other than 1930.

prior to this, I had been struggling to nail down a high quality source talking about the film's physical production location splits.
I took a look at what tax credits can tell us about Spielberg's most recent films. Short answer - West Side Story was much more expensive than the $100M reported in the press while Disclosure Day is likely mildly undershot.

Out of 202 movie geologists found in 141 movies released between 1919 and 2023, 69 die on screen or are found dead—a mortality rate of about one-third, according to a new paper.
The authors, several geologists–slash–movie buffs, began their analysis more than a decade ago and have provided regular updates, although this is the first in a scientific journal.
