While we agree on most of this I will say the pro-immigration side telling Americans under 45 that they suddenly have to compete against the entire world for US jobs isn’t a good talking point. Boomers and GenX wasn’t asked to do this. Nor does any other country allow it to the degree we have the last 15 years.
People have a legitimate beef having to train their replacements and then they can’t get a job. Now kids can’t get into college because the kids of those that replaced their parents are citizens in much larger numbers than GenX & Boomers had to compete against.
In many ways our system has made them second class citizens with rules and laws making them last in line for jobs & college in their own country.

That was the lesson for the boys: be considerate of other people’s money. If somebody is blessing you, don’t take advantage of it.

As an American who voted for mass deportations, we don't want them to stop. In fact my hopes are that past the midterms, they ramp back up again.
There is no political upside to you finger wagging, and using leftist talking points like '50% of those detained don't have a criminal background'. I didn't vote for ONLY the "worse of the worse" to be deported. I voted for ALL people here illegally, which is a crime, to be deported. I don't care if they have never committed a crime in their life, outside of being here illegally. THAT is the crime.
We are either a nation of laws, or a nation of exemptions of "our people", as you Rep. Salazar wants.
It's a tough spot to be in, running for office, and most likely to lose and your consultants telling you to turn your back on POTUS and the American mandate we gave him, for votes. But as an American, that wouldn't be a tough choice for me at all. I choose America, and I choose Americans. I'd rather lose, than give up on mass deportations. We WILL lose our country, if we do not mass deport. We WILL lose our country, if we continue to mass import.
There will be no Republican party left if we had it your way. There will be no Republic left. And if you are an immigrant or a child of immigrants, and you choose "your people" over Americans, you are also part of the problem.

Illegal immigration didn’t give us Somali crime syndicates in Minnesota, a terrorist Senate candidate in Michigan, or an al-Qaeda loving anti-American mayor in New York City.
Nope. That was all through “legal” immigration. The reality is we’re full, they need to go back, and we’re done with the nonsense. No more pretending that only illegal immigration is responsible for America being flooded immigrants who seem to love our money but hate our history, people, and culture.
America is not a global economic zone, it is not a refugee camp, and it is not a welfare piggy bank for foreign do-nothings or their in-bred relatives.
America is for Americans. And if that upsets you, tough. America doesn’t need you, or your tribal beefs, or your crap culture, or your made-up religions or communist claptrap.
If your culture still hasn’t figured out plumbing or trash collection in the year 2026 A.D., we don’t need you. If hearing our church bells bothers you, you’re welcome to make a life with your goats somewhere else. If you’re incapable of buying anything without having a hissy fit that you can’t haggle, understand that you have nothing to offer us and we don’t want you here.
Stop showing up here and then immediately trying to turn America in the steaming turd farm you just left. That really shouldn’t be too much to ask, and yet…here we are.

That still doesn't address the underlying anger.
It's easy to look at reactions like these, and call them "racism." It's easy to declare the people expressing them bad, and move on. It's also politically stupid, because the anger didn't appear out of nowhere.
A lot of Texans (especially people in tech) watched employers use H-1B and other visa programs to obtain cheaper, more controllable labor. These programs are supposed to be for filling shortages, not saving money on payroll. Some have been laid off and then required to train the foreign workers replacing them. Add well-publicized cases of résumé, degree, certification, contracting, and immigration fraud, and distrust is hardly surprising.
Even where everything is perfectly legal, immigration has distributional effects. If employers can import large numbers of workers into an already competitive labor market, displaced workers are going to notice. If rapidly growing populations compete for housing in places where supply isn't keeping up, existing residents are going to notice that too.
When the federal and state government makes it clear they care more about immigrants than they care about you, you're gonna get mad about that, even if that anger looks "racist"
You can argue that some people take that legitimate resentment and turn it into racial hostility. Some plainly do. But "some of the rhetoric is racist" is not an answer to the underlying grievances.
If your response to someone saying, "I lost my job, trained my cheaper replacement, can't afford a house, and think my government doesn't give a damn about me" is simply "you're racist." you haven't solved anything. You've just convinced him that nobody intends to listen.
Democrats have learned the hard way that dismissing people's material concerns as moral defects doesn't make those concerns disappear. Republicans would be remarkably stupid to make the same mistake, yet here we are.

Convenience is one of those words I stopped trusting somewhere along the way, right around the time every object in my house started asking who I was.
I bought the fucking thing. That used to settle it.
You bought a television, brought it home, plugged it in and watched television. Nobody asked for an email address. Nobody wanted to “personalize your experience.” The television did not need to know whether you were divorced.
Now the TV wants an account, the car wants a profile and the thermostat wants my location.
Why? You’re on the wall.
That’s your location.
And every company says the same thing: “For your convenience.” That phrase has the same energy as a nurse saying, “You may feel some pressure.”
That shit always hurts.
“For your convenience, we’ve changed the way you sign in.” Well then it isn’t for my convenience, is it? I already knew how to sign in. You broke a door and handed me a pamphlet about the new entrance.
That’s what they’re good at now. Not making things better. Naming things better.
They don’t raise your price. They “adjust” it. They don’t take something away. They “streamline.” Then I get to spend forty minutes explaining my problem to a chatbot that keeps telling me it understands how frustrating this must be.
No… you fucking don’t.

It begins as a financial decision and ends with you wondering whether you’ve committed some kind of moral offense.
I tried to cancel a service recently and by the end of it I had changed my password twice, confirmed my identity three times and answered a survey asking why I wanted to leave.
Why do I want to leave?
Because I’m forty minutes older than I was when I started and I now hate your entire corporate bloodline.
They’re not trying to convince you to stay. Convincing people takes talent. They’re trying to make leaving so irritating that eventually your shoulders drop and you go, “Ah, fuck it.”
That phrase is probably worth billions.
“Ah, fuck it” is the sound of somebody deciding six dollars is cheaper than twenty more minutes of his own life.
They’re pricing your resistance.
I noticed it trying to park the other day. The parking app wanted my phone number, email address, location and access to my contacts.
Contacts? I’m parking a car.
Who are you planning to notify?
My dentist?

And I hit Allow. Of course I did.
I needed to park.
So you stop asking, “Why the fuck do they need this?” You start asking, “How fast can I make this screen go away?”
Five-dollar fee shows up at the end of a transaction and you know it’s bullshit. But you’ve already picked the seat, entered the card, found the parking spot, got somebody waiting in the car, and now there’s a little button that says “Continue.”
So you pay it.
Nobody needs to threaten you. Nobody needs a club. That’s primitive. You just make “no” take longer than “yes.”
That’s enough.
Continue is a hell of a word.
You could put almost anything above that button.
“By continuing, you agree that we may track your location, sell your habits, record your voice and send a regional manager named Craig to sit quietly in your bedroom and take notes while you sleep.”
Continue… fuck it.
