"You never want to be in a situation where you're arguing over what a "resolution" is." - @DecagonAI
ai pricing is moving to outcomes faster than people expect.
once you charge for outcomes, someone has to count them. today the vendor counts its own. buyers know this. that’s why so many enterprise ai contracts don’t close or renew.
it’s a billing admin problem.
independent verification fixed this in advertising 20 years ago. the money came back the moment the bill was trusted.
the same layer is missing in ai. we’re building it. buyers get the Cleared Work verification.
if you run an AI product or cloud marketplace or sell models by the token, this makes your customers spend more, not less. lets talk.
"You never want to be in a situation where you're arguing over what a "resolution" is." - @DecagonAI
Today there's no trusted reconciliation for AI task- or outcome-based pricing. This limits enterprise adoption.
Example: @coderabbitai charges and rate limits by QA review task even if a review is not completed (no outcome, no results).
Floe's fixes this for both AI sellers and buyers.
Why does @GitHubCopilot cost $0.05 to $1.00 to review a PR resulting in 'Needs a Closer Look' outcome?
The CFO job has gone from accountant to banker to builder, and the whole finance function is being rebuilt around it:
1. Data stopped being the bottleneck. AI pulls and reconciles data across systems, so teams spend more time acting on numbers instead of chasing them.
2. The finance stack is becoming part of the finance team. AI-native tools stand up in days, pull their own data, and turn a monthly close into a daily one.
3. The rise of the finance engineer. Finance people proficient in Claude Code or Codex are building their own tools.
4. The finance team gets smaller and higher leverage. The old heuristic of finance at 5% of headcount is heading to 2% for the leanest teams.
5. Planning becomes continuous. Usage-based revenue (tokens, API calls) moves too fast for a monthly forecast, so planning shifts from annual budgets to a live view.
6. Controls become a critical feature of the product. Every number an agent touches keeps an audit trail back to its source, and finance still owns sign-off.
7. Finance gets a bigger mandate. Compute spend, people versus software, and build versus buy are now finance decisions.
"The CFO is becoming a builder and architect of the company's operating system... The job is still finance, but more of the job now is designing how finance gets done."

Introducing our State of Markets pt 2, along with a companion podcast where we unpack the data and discuss what comes next.
Tech is the everything cycle.
Supply: putting the buildout in context, just passed railroads as % of GDP. The wisdom of Elon is real: the factory (or the datacenter!) is the product.
Demand: diffusion is so, so early. Median AI vendor spending in the top 1% of companies is 8x that of the top 10%. Only about 30% of S&P 500 companies report a quantified AI impact, which means there’s a substantial opportunity in connecting models to a company's data and workflows. Diffusion into companies is one of the main themes of the next 5 years.
We’re entering the agent work period. Only a few million users today, but applicable to billions of internet users with massive surplus created. META/GOOG monetize US users at $200+ per year today. Agent opportunity is much higher.
Mega-trends the next 5 years: Consumer agents, Robotics, Autonomy, AI x bio, Personal health, Diffusion into enterprise, New era of American Dynamism.

Quantifying AI impact is virtually impossible today. Good thing we’re working to solve that giant self reported gap :)
Something’s gotta give. And our enterprise finance heads are ahead of this already
this is a great deck by @a16z
1) token prices are down down down
2) COGS (memory, gpus, electricity) all up up up.
biggest takeaway not clearly highlighted... this implies:
3) frontier lab gross margins are getting crushed!?
Vendors bill per token, character, and second across multiple services on one AI task.
Nothing in between tells you which client is losing you money.
Floe is the ledger in between. Cost every task at task-end, tag it to the client, enforce the budget before the spend, close it into your books.
