It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of His Majesty the Omukama of Tooro, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, at approximately 10:00 p.m. this evening. This is an immeasurable loss to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro and the nation of Uganda. Omukama Atulize. Enkuba Etutire. I call upon the people of Tooro to remain united, calm and prayerful during this difficult time. The continuity of the Crown is assured. His Majesty leaves behind a Prince as his heir, whose identity will be formally revealed at the appropriate time, in accordance with the traditions and customs of Tooro Kingdom. An official statement will follow with further details, including the funeral and mourning arrangements. May His Majesty the King rest in eternal peace.

Most honoured to recieve an autographed copy of a great book “Odyssey of the Nubi” written by the late General Moses Ali from his son and dear friend Ismail Ali.. This a must read for anyone interested in the story of the Nubi people and their contribution to Uganda’s story.

Deeply saddened by the passing a great man, Gen. Moses Ali. His most amazing story of exemplary leadership in West Nile, in the different Armies and his own Family will be retold for a long time. To my friends Ismail, Shaban, Abdul, Siragi and all your siblings, pole sana🙏🏾

Over the past two months in my new role at @UEDCLTD, one priority has shaped our work: delivering the reliable electricity our customers expect and deserve. Reliable electricity is about much more than keeping the lights on. It gives businesses the confidence to invest, enables essential services to operate without interruption, and helps families go about their daily lives with greater certainty. It is also fundamental to Uganda's economic growth and development. I know many of our customers have experienced unreliable power supply. Those frustrations are real and rebuilding confidence will require consistent improvements across our network. Every day, our teams are focused on strengthening the system through better planning, investment and operational excellence. We know there is still work ahead, but every upgrade, investment and improvement brings us closer to delivering the reliable service our customers expect and deserve. The recent commissioning of the Maya integration lines along the Masaka Road corridor is one example. The project, delivered through a partnership between UEDCL and @uetcl, was implemented under UEDCL's approved capital investment programme with the support of the Electricity Regulatory Authority (@ERA_Uganda) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (@MEMD_Uganda). By strengthening supply and reducing reliance on a single source, the project improves network resilience and reliability for the communities we serve. As demand for electricity continues to grow, so must our ambition. We remain committed to investing in infrastructure, modernising our network and delivering better outcomes for the people and businesses that depend on us. I look forward to using this platform to share more about the work we are doing across UEDCL, the progress we are making, and the dedicated people behind it.

Ugandan army I spent today afternoon giving a lecture to Generals and Senior officers in Mbuya accredited to different countries around the world as Defence Attaches/Advisors about Ugandas potential and how we can exploit that potential for our own good. The generals and senior officers were very attentive and they asked many questions which was great. Left them excited about positioning Uganda and was inspired to give more of these talks to groups like theirs.

Good thinking here👍🏾
If I were Dangote, sitting atop a 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery on the East African coast, I’d still find myself drawn to Uganda’s refinery project. Not as an afterthought, but as a serious strategic play. The reason comes down to what Uganda actually offers. Yes, the planned Ugandan refinery starts modestly- 60,000 bpd, and scaling to 120,000. But it sits right at the crude source. And surrounding it is already a constellation of infrastructure - an industrial park, a network of roads, an airport, and direct access to some of the fastest-growing landlocked markets on the continent: Uganda, Rwanda, eastern DRC, South Sudan, western Kenya, and beyond. Uganda’s refinery isn’t just a ripe project; it’s an automatic door into one of the most underleveraged regional markets on the continent. Step inside, and you’re not just refining crude you’re planting a flag at the beating heart of East and Central African commerce. That kind of experience doesn’t just add value to a project like this, it unlocks it. A coastal refinery does what coastal refineries do best; it serves export flows and maritime logistics with quiet efficiency. A Ugandan refinery does something different. It puts refined product close to where people actually live and consume, cutting through the expensive last-mile problem that has long plagued inland supply chains. As emphasized by H.E. @KagutaMuseveni the Uganda refinery and the East Africa one aren’t rival bets. They’re two complimentary vantage points within the same regional energy system ; one anchored at the water’s edge, the other embedded deep in a hinterland where demand isn’t coming; it’s already here. That’s how I’d see it, anyway. But again, I’m not Dangote (and will never be) and he definitely knows things I don’t!

Brilliant article 👌🔥… So many quotable elements…. But I probably this one the most ….. 👇 “Here is the depressing part: very few countries design good institutions in advance, out of sheer wisdom. Most of them crash into a wall, set themselves on fire, or nearly collapse before deciding that maybe, just maybe, safeguards and accountability matter. Human beings, as a species, learn best from burnt fingers, not from safety manuals” I really enjoyed ready this. Thanks for sharing Raymond.
