It’s concerning to see more children getting measles.
Vaccines are safe, effective and can be life saving. We’re urging all parents to check their children are up to date with their recommended vaccinations.
Our country expects its leaders to stand firmly behind science to protect our children, not to give oxygen to conspiracy theories.
Public health isn’t a culture war. It’s about keeping our communities safe.

UKHSA responds to the confirmation from @WHO that the UK has lost its measles elimination status.
Read more from WHO here: who.int/europe/news-room/eve…

ALT Dr Vanessa Saliba, Consultant Epidemiologist at UKHSA, said: 'Infections can return quickly when childhood vaccine uptake falls; elimination is only possible if all children receive two MMRV doses before school. Older children and adults who missed vaccination must be caught up. The NHS is making vaccination easier, including offering the second MMRV dose earlier at a new 18-month appointment to boost uptake and support elimination goals.'

Fantastic news! Congratulations @ClareGerada
Huge congratulations to our former Chair and President Clare Gerada on becoming a Crossbench Peer in the House of Lords.
A lifelong College member and now a Baroness – but first and foremost a grassroots GP who continues to deliver exceptional care to your patients and to fight for the profession you love.
You witnessed the power of general practice from a young age, seeing at first-hand the difference your GP father made to his patients’ lives, and we know you will be the most powerful advocate for GPs and patients in the House of Lords.
We are so proud of you Clare. You are an inspirational and courageous leader, and this is a historic moment for you and for our College. We wish you every success.

Smoking kills 64,000 people in the UK every year, including infants & children.
Every day, 350 young people start smoking regularly
🚭It is vital the Bill is passed without further delay.
