Want to renew you UK drivers license & avoid One Login? 1. Take your DVLA renewal reminder letter & current photocard to a Post Office. Pay the fee. 2. Get a D1 application pack from the Post Office & send the details to DVLA with the fee. Both processes - three week wait
🚨 UK digital drivers licenses [mDLs] are almost ready for national deployment. The process would involve going through One Login [digital ID verification] to onboard with the GOV.UK Wallet. Our advice? Stick with the physical card. publictechnology.net/2026/08…

Enough of this nonsense that there's 'no alternative'. The alternative is *parents*. The education and empowerment of *parents* using available modern technology to govern their own children online. The collective punishment of millions of adults to ID verify is unacceptable
Easy libertarian soundbite though this is, tearing down the social media ban and failing to offer an alternative is not only a shortsighted political move (parents overwhelmingly want action and parents are a constituency of millions); it also morally reprehensible. If we were to tackle the hardware - smartphones rather than content - many of these issues fall away.

Did someone say a compromised laptop? That’s also the way hackers* took control of the UK’s live digital identity system One Login. All the source code, all the servers. Without being detected. And they still can’t lock them down. Image what you can do with 23 million identities?
"compromised DevOps engineer's laptop" I swear to god if this was Contagious Interview, I'm moving to North Korea and stealing bitcoin for a living. For context, Contagious Interview is one of DPRK's techniques where they reach out to developers in the target organization and offer them higher paying jobs. They then tell them the job offer is contingent on them completing a "coding skills assessment" to prove their ability. The source code is backdoored with malware, and the targets sometime run it on their work laptop, because why wouldn't you run untrusted code some random internet dude gave you on your work laptop.

Let's have a look at what Ofcom recommended & what it really means: Photo ID matching: this is *digital ID verification*, i.e. checking a live facial biometric against an ID document for 'age assurance'. Banking: Potential use of open-banking for a yes/no, re: age [contd.]

Facial age estimation: Not highly effective & can be circumvented. Digital ID services: Using providers like Yoti/Post Office ID to prove age. This involves going through digital ID verification FIRST with Yoti/Post Office ID prior to social media ID checks.

77th --- Land Special Operations Force REORGANISATION: HOW THE UK REBUILT ITS INFORMATION WARFARE APPARATUS 🧵🔥🔥🔥 On 14 April 2026, the UK Ministry of Defence executed an administrative restructuring: the formal disbandment of 77th Brigade as a standalone military formation. While headlines marked the end of the Army's most controversial psychological operations unit, Freedom of Information disclosures (ArmySec/FOI2026/09068 and FOI2026/10971) confirm that HMG did not terminate its digital influence capabilities. Instead, the British military folded its information operations sub-units directly into the covert command architecture of the Land Special Operations Force (LSOF) alongside the Ranger Regiment. This investigation unmasks the structural rebrand, funding streams, and civilian networks underpinning the UK's evolved military information warfare enterprise across six forensic pillars: 🔴1. THE STRUCTURAL REBRAND: The dissolution of 77th Brigade HQ and the transformation of its operational task forces into the 5th Information Warfare Battalion (5 IW Bn) and 101st Information Warfare Battalion (101 IW Bn) under Land Special Operations Force command. 🔴2. THE DOCTRINAL MACHINE: The Shrivenham training pipeline operating out of the Information Warfare Group (IWG) and Joint Information Activities Group (JIAG), deploying target audience analysis, behavioural psychology, and the DISARM framework. 🔴3. DIPLOMATIC COVER & WILTON PARK: The operational alignment between LSOF, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and off-the-record diplomatic forums held at Wilton Park under non-attribution protocols. 🔴4. REDACTED MONEY PIPELINES: The UKISF/CSSF Lot 2 600M GBP commercial framework where 37 primary defence contractors are legally redacted under DSPCR 2011, operating alongside parallel philanthropic funding from Open Society Foundations and Omidyar Network. 🔴5. HOME-BASE REACHBACK CELLS: The distributed intelligence network spanning RAF Wyton (DIAC), Hermitage (NCGI), PJHQ Northwood, and Dstl Porton Down that feeds real-time data to forward special operations teams. 🔴6. OVERSIGHT SHIELDING & CYBER INTEGRATION: The classification firewall erected by placing information units under Special Operations command, integrated alongside the National Cyber Force (NCF), CEMA Effects Group, and the Whitehall civilian spine. 🔴7. THE ERA OF PERMANENT COGNITIVE WARFARE The evolution from 77th Brigade to the Land Special Operations Force (LSOF). whatdotheyknow.com/request/l…

The UK Govt will announce by year end whether or not a retail CBDC, i.e. 'digital pound' will happen. Digital ID verification is not a prerequisite for a retail CBDC to exist where commercial banks have established customer identity. publictechnology.net/2026/10…

However, and to provide more nuance, due to AML regulation and the potential introduction of custodial wallets for either a retail CBDC or stablecoin, then yes, additional digital ID verification could be a requirement.

DATA BREACHES Is the DATA you give to the Government SAFE? 🤔🤨 it seems NOT but no one seems to care😬 even the committee room was nearly empty! 🙄 This is Dame Chi Onwurah MP & Chair - Science, Innovation and Technology Committee speaking just yesterday in the Palace of Westminster. It just takes her 34seconds to answer. She doesn’t mince her words. 😮 DAMMING “Rolling out AI driven public services over bad data infrastructure is a recipe for disaster” 😩 Listen for yourself. It’s only 34 seconds ⬇️

- First reported by Dominique Rizet of BFMTV - No police report or statement available - 'Stripped' allegation was a verbal claim alone - Primary picture was AI altered - Secondary picture was AI altered
This image from events in France overnight is doing the rounds on this sewer. I've not seen it verified so was curious to run it through an AI check. The new OpenAI tool came up with nothing, a surface level SynthID check via Gemini was the same. However, going direct to synthid.com for analysis and here we are. Now, the reports from Le Parisien are genuine. The newspaper reports that an elderly couple were allegedly robbed and left in their underwear near Place de la République, citing a police source. But there's an important point here, and one that X continually exploits time and time again. The existence of a reported incident doesn't establish the authenticity of an image supposedly showing it. Nor is an AI detection tool, or the absence of a watermark, definitive proof either way. Until the original source of this image can be established, it remains unverified and should be treated as such. It's an important reminder of how easily a genuine news report and an unverified image can become one seemingly credible story that whips up outrage and further hostility.
