Years ago, two Republic of Somaliland ministers sounded the alarm on Ilhan
Former Interior Minister Mohamed Kahin and former Information Minister Ali Hassan. Minister Ali accused her of leaking classified details from a House Foreign Affairs Committee meeting with Somaliland’s president/delegation to Somalia's leaders during her visit - urging them to strike Somaliland before U.S. ties strengthened. Minister Kahin also demanded on video her arrest, expulsion from Congress, after the attack cost lives.
In a March 18, 2022 tweet, "Omar" posted a photo from that same Washington meeting and mocked the Republic of Somaliland delegation’s accents, writing that her colleagues couldn’t make them out and acted hard of hearing while she tried “not lose it.”
The attack failed. The U.S. and Republic of Somaliland are now closer than.
🧾 Receipts: Ilhan Omar’s original last name was Elmi before it was changed.
This evidence was available, but the Obama Justice Department refused to investigate.
Her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, and their father, Nur Said Elmi (also known as Nur Omar), used multiple names across different countries. Part of the family fled to the United Kingdom, while Ilhan Omar and others entered the United States under their father’s assumed name, “Omar.”
These name changes and split identities were used to conceal the father’s true war crimes and identity.
Marriage details:
• Groom: Ahmed Nur Said Elmi
• Bride: Ilhan Abdullahi Omar
(real name Ilhan Elmi)

Couldn’t have said it better.
This is how true reer Galbeed behave, unlike the settlers pushing the Awdal State cult agenda & importing their hateful mindset into Galbeed.
After their failed claims in Guban, they’ve now moved on to Oromo.
I warned about this foreign cult.
The xenophobic targeting of Oromo refugees and Ethiopian migrant workers in Somaliland is disgraceful, dangerous, and completely unacceptable. Somalia-driven propaganda about the conflict in Moyale should never have been imported into Somaliland or allowed to shape attitudes toward vulnerable people living peacefully among us.
Shame on the Somalilanders who amplified this xenophobic rhetoric and fearmongering. The consequences are no longer abstract: videos emerging today from Borama appear to show Oromo migrants being attacked and shelters being burned. Somaliland is a country of law and order; mob intimidation and violence have no place here.
The Somaliland law enforcement must act immediately to protect these communities and hold those responsible accountable. The government must also counter the Somalia propaganda fueling this hostility, raise public awareness, and educate citizens about the dangers of misinformation and xenophobia.

Major Development‼️
Somaliland’s Interior and Security Minister Abdalle Mohamed Arab issued a directive on 28 October 2026 ordering security agencies to enforce a longstanding ban on participation in Somalia’s political activities, warning that such involvement constitutes treason against the independence and national existence of the Republic of Somaliland and will lead to prosecution. The order implements a joint decision adopted by Somaliland’s House of Representatives and House of Elders on 11 October 2003, applies to people originating from Somaliland including government officials, citizens, political parties, intellectuals, traditional leaders and literary figures, and instructs security agencies to bring violators before competent courts, while also citing Law No. 71/2025 and accusing Somalia’s government of efforts to undermine Somaliland’s claimed statehood. This step reinforces Hargeisa’s long-standing separation from Mogadishu’s political processes amid ongoing tensions, including Israel’s recognition of Somaliland in December 2025, which Somalia and the African Union reject.

Al Shabaab ambushed Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) forces, who had launched a counteroffensive against opposition forces in South West state, inflicting mass casualties on federal forces.
Tensions between the FGS and local factions in central and south-central Somalia have provided openings for al Shabaab to exploit, including by potentially coordinating with opposition forces. 🧵⬇️
