Western media parachutes journalists to report on elections and other events in Africa all the time. Thanks to the incredible folks at @thecontinent_ , I am delighted to do a reverse and report on American politics amid some stressful times for democracy. Will America endure?

Good to see some of the reactions to Serbia and Brazil: that it takes dedicated organising to win an election. What will it take to change a system? To fix an economy? To challenge a deeply unfair global (dis)order? To renew a social commitment to the values Kenyans agreed represent them? Just as important, who will it take beyond politicians for this to happen? Kenya is in an argument between its past and its future - how it goes depends on who shows up to argue.

Despite serving his eighth term, he appears to spend much of his time in Switzerland. wapo.st/4i1ce9V
