I was in Starbucks at Nelson Mandela place, Glasgow, this morning. Neither member of staff could speak English when I entered, no.....it's not a joke or bullshit. Both just awkwardly standing there. Go there if your local, check for yourself. Two Asian folks serving, a queue of utterly perplexed people all too polite to ask or even acknowledge the utterly bizarre situation in front of them. After about 3 minutes, another Asian member of staff appeared from downstairs, she could speak a little English and was relaying the orders to them in (Gujarati I think) I mean, what in actual FUCK? Then another member of staff appeared....huge with blue hair....yup. The woman next to me said to her "I don't think your staff understand what we're saying" She snapped back "they're adjusting to the Glaswegian accent, they'll get used to it" I jumped in and said "I'm not Glaswegian, I spoke perfectly clear, I don't think it's the accent, I don't think they speak any English" She then told me to leave if I wasn't happy with the service. Mental, just mental.
