In 1962, my grandad Birch ran for office, but there was one problem - nobody knew how to pronounce our name. So his campaign came up with a jingle to help voters remember it.
As we approach Election Day, I wanted to bring that tune back and put my own spin on it.
My grandad’s example inspired me to believe in the power of public service to make a real difference in people’s lives. He helped pass the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, authored the constitutional amendment lowering the voting age to 18 so that the young Americans fighting and dying in Vietnam would have a voice in choosing their leaders, and championed Title IX, opening doors for generations of women in college athletics.
I’m proud to carry on that tradition of service in my own way.

No question there should be traffic calming measures taken along 38th St. Why is it taking so long?
A woman is charged for allegedly hitting and killing a man crossing the street near Crown Hill Cemetery in July.
37-year-old Brittne Young is charged with reckless homicide, a Level 5 felony.
The crash happened July 17 at 38th and Michigan, on Indy's north side. Charges were just filed this week in Marion County.
69-year-old Foster Hill died by the time medics got there. An autopsy reportedly found that Hill suffered catastrophic injuries, including a severed spine in two locations, a lacerated aorta and internal decapitation.
Police say Young stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators.
New court documents reveal that Young was allegedly driving a yellow Camaro more than 80 mph down 38th Street, where the speed limit is 45 mph.
Police say she hit Hill in the road near Michigan. Witnesses allegedly told police that it looked like the Camaro was going very fast.
Court docs reveal that detectives measured a 302-foot skid mark. Using crash reconstruction formulas, they calculated the speed at the start of braking to be 82.9 mph.
The car's Airbag Control Module recorded vehicle speed data:
- 83 mph two seconds before impact
- 81 mph one second before impact
- 80 mph half a second before impact
Prosecutors allege Young was driving with only an ID card and that her driving privileges had been suspended. They also allege toxicology tests showed she had THC in her system.
Young has yet to be arrested, as of this post, but has an active warrant for her arrest.

We are building the tools to solve overweight and obesity, and hopefully the 200 terrible diseases it causes, at a global scale.
-Rapidly expanding Cancer portfolio in B cell driven disease, Breast and Ovarian cancer as well as Lung and more.
- Treating or preventing the worst neurodegenerative diseases we know
- Unlocking the potential of one and done therapy for common diseases like lymphomas, wet AMD, childhood deafness and even something as common as high LDL cholesterol.
The future of biomedical technology is going to amaze.
Today we announced third-quarter 2026 results. Every quarter is a chance to show what a medicine company can do for people: discover what's next, make it at scale, and get it to the people who need it. go.lilly.com/lkq1zh
