Myanmar Military Bombs and Machine-Guns Vehicle Carrying Chinese Gas Pipeline Worker in Ann Township Narinjara – October 13, 2026 Myanmar’s Military Commission reportedly launched an airstrike and machine-gun attack on a vehicle carrying a Chinese national and two Myanmar workers employed at a Chinese natural gas pipeline facility along the Ann–Padan road near the Arakan–Magway border on October 11. According to Narinjara, the vehicle was transporting Chinese national Chen Jie and two Myanmar employees working at a China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) gas pipeline facility in Ann Township when it came under attack by a military fighter jet shortly after 11 a.m. A source confirmed that the aircraft dropped bombs and fired machine guns at the moving vehicle. Following the attack, the three occupants reportedly scattered and temporarily went missing out of fear. All were subsequently located and confirmed safe, with no injuries reported. However, the vehicle sustained damage from bomb fragments. The Arakan Army (AA) captured Ann Township in December 2024 and subsequently allowed CNPC-operated natural gas pipeline facilities in the area to continue operating. Several pipeline facilities, including intermediate stations near Taung Sauk and Sin Khon Taing, are located in the mountain ranges more than 20 miles from Ann. These facilities employ both Chinese engineers and Myanmar workers.
