Sudan is widely recognized by international organizations as the largest, most severe humanitarian and displacement disaster on Earth. Out of a population of roughly 50 million, 33.7 million people require urgent humanitarian aid, ~ 65% of the country's population.
More than 21 million people are facing crisis, emergency, or catastrophic levels of hunger. Millions are not able to eat every day. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has officially confirmed famine conditions in parts of North Darfur, including the massive Zamzam camp for internally displaced people. Multiple other regions across Darfur and Kordofan are on the brink of a full-blown starvation catastrophe. An estimated 825,000 children under five are expected to suffer from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).
The scale of human suffering in UAE’s war on the country, now in its fourth year, according to the IRC accounts for over 10% of the entire world's global humanitarian need.
Hasan Piker is asked by Najeh, an event organizer at Cornell University, if he would be interested in interviewing Sudanese doctors on his broadcast and Hasan said yes. Najeh explained that he went on medical missions to Lebanon, Sudan, the Gaza flotilla and Ukraine, and that Sudan is not being talked about at all, despite the fact that some people have said that Sudan is in a worse state than Gaza with regard to the state of the hospital facilities. 🤍

There seems to be a lot of liberals that haven't come to terms with the fact we double tapped a girls school in Iran, kidnapped the president of Venezuela and stole their oil and gold, blockaded gas into Cuba, and are randomly blowing up fishing boats for no reason.
👀 NEW: @hasanthehun joins @alexthomp on the Season 3 premiere of The Axios Show in what Piker called "the most contentious interview" he's done.
Piker claims that "pound for pound," America conducts more terror around the world than al-Qaeda.

Whether you call it New York City, Nueva Yol, or PueblaYork, Hispanic and Latino New Yorkers are at the heart of the city we love.
From the labor activism of Luisa Moreno, to the marches of the Young Lords in the South Bronx in 1969.
From Juan Rodriguez, a free, mixed-race Dominican sailor who became the first non-indigenous resident of Manhattan in 1613, to Jose Alvarado, NYCHA's very own Knicks Champion.
From the Nuyorican Poets Café on the Lower East Side, to Toñita's in Williamsburg, New York City would not be New York City without its Hispanic Heritage.
And yet, more than three-quarters of Latino New Yorkers struggle to afford living in New York City. As we mark Hispanic Heritage Month, we remember that Hispanic and Latino families must be at the heart of our affordability agenda.

“We have been notified by venues on the upcoming U.S. tour dates that they will not allow a concert to take place with Macklemore on the lineup”

Islamophobia is much more than “anti-Muslim hate”: it is a complex, multi layered sophisticated system of discrimination and oppression embedded in global power structures. It is a deeply intersectional system that overlaps sexism, racism, imperialism, classism, casteism and extends its reach to target non Muslim individuals and groups that share any perceived characteristics (Sikhs, South Asians, etc) it operates privately, interpersonally, dialectically, institutionally. it is normalized via cultural and political attitudes, language, practices, policies and laws. It is also not a recent phenomenon birthed from 9/11.
this piece in @VanityFair is disgusting, but rather than an exception is actually the norm
Hi @chrissmithnymag and @VanityFair, I cannot believe you published this racist Islamophobic drivel without any pushback. Mamdani was 9 years old on 9/11 and all Muslim Americans are not ‘stand-ins’ for 19 foreign hijackers.

Misogynists spouting bile about Lindsay Clancy’s trial don’t care about the law. they don’t care about protecting children. they don’t care about justice or safety or whatever else they’re posturing about. They care about punishing women. They use someone like Lindsay Clancy as a weapon to further attack women as a class, to stigmatize post partum disorders and maternal struggles, and to make it more difficult for mothers, and for all women, to receive the support they need.

Mark Ruffalo links Paramount to Oracle’s ties to the Israeli military
“They are crushing workers and consolidating the wealth of the world for their own power and concentrated dominance.”
Ruffalo criticized Larry and David Ellison while opposing Paramount’s Warner Bros. deal, arguing that Oracle’s role in Israel’s war effort should be part of the conversation around the merger.
Paramount called his remarks “antisemitic” and “a bridge too far.”

Gringos want to exploit Puerto Rico through tax evasion without acknowledging the class disparity necessary to sustain their lifestyles. The cognitive dissonance on their part makes this a funny anecdotal experience, but in PR its just another day under US austerity & colonialism
I moved to Puerto Rico to attempt to save on taxes and lasted 45 days.
I went to urgent care, and the nurse injected me in the butt with God knows what, and I was having panic attacks for a week...that was enough for me.
