The year is 1954. You're reading the latest issue of Broadcasting magazine. You spot an error. A joke comes to mind.
You chuckle to yourself, dictate a letter to your secretary (who doesn't laugh), and she mails it off.
Two weeks later, a colleague calls. He liked your joke.

We asked Xavier Becerra if he identifies as a NIMBY or a YIMBY and I am still dying over his answer. Great interview by @SophiaBollag, who tried to get him to say literally anything substantive.

Great report on @PeterHajek paper about e-cigs helping smokers quit even when they don’t get behavioral support. medicalxpress.com/news/2026-… and in today’s environment, thanks to @BloombergDotOrg, they get the opposite of support - they get misinformation & yet they can still quit!

Every time I read one of these threads I am always like both shocked and optimistic
Last night an AI agent performed brain surgery on a mouse.
We gave it 19 gene therapy vectors in a spreadsheet, a mouse model of epilepsy, access to a motorize surgery rig with cameras and one goal: reduce seizures.
It picked the drug. It picked the brain region. It derived the coordinates from three papers. Then it drove the stereotaxic arms into the brain and injected 250 nanolitres while watching the entry site through the rig camera for bleeding.
A licensed vet gated every irreversible step and held a physical kill switch to stop the AI agent.
Thread on what it decided, what it saw, and the moment it refused to let me override it.
[Writing this on the spot out of excitement, but I've been 18hrs in front of my laptop coding and coordinating this, so keeping it brief and descriptive, more cohesive thoughts on this soon...]

Yet another court confirms that TOS sitting passively at the bottom of a website ("browsewrap") are not enforceable.
Here, Brooks Brothers's arbitration clause is useless because the TOS that contain it aren't enforceable.

Note that this review is very cautious in estimating the toxicant exposure reductions when switching from cigarettes to e-cigs. e.g. E-cigs emit no CO. Never smokers often have an exhaled CO=2ppm. Smokers often have a CO level of 16ppm. So a reduction to 2ppm should be 100%. But here it is estimated as only 87.5% reduction, not accounting for background/endogenous levels. Despite this cautious approach, the study demonstrates large reductions in a wide range of toxicants when switching from cigarettes to e-cigs.
A new systematic review and meta-analysis published in Archives of Toxicology, covering 60 studies, found substantial reductions in exposure to #harmful #chemicals among #smokers who switched completely to e-cigarettes.

We LOVED getting these on deployment. Kids would draw the wildest stuff and teachers clearly weren't reviewing them. They would draw Army men shooting people and blood coming out and then it would say "I hope you don't die." Everyone looked forward to getting them.
